Hello, my fellow competitors!! I'm new to the competition scene. and I was wondering where to begin. I think I've got diet, training, and supplementation down, but I'd really like someone to talk with about the "other" aspects of competing.
First off, I'd LOVE to compete in fitness, but I have no prior gymnastic training. So, I assumed I'd be stuck doing figure. I've contacted numerous local gymnastic facilities in the Cincinnati area, none will offer beginner gymnastics lessons to adults. Any suggestions as to how one with no gymnastic background can build the skills necessary to become a fitness competitor? Also, I don't know how to even go about getting involved in a competition. Obviously there has to be some sort of registration process, but how does one go about doing that? And it seems as though March is full of competitions. Does that mean I'll have to wait an entire year before I can compete, or are there competitions yearround? Any answers to these questions or advice on fitness/figure competing in any way, shape, or form would be greatly appreciated. I'd especially LOVE if there's anyone in the Cincinnati area with prior experience in either field that I could possibly get in touch with =] Best wishes to all of you, and I look forward to the fun times ahead <3 Maria moliva1015@yahoo.com |

To find competitions near me I just do a competition search in google. You could also try www.theocbwebsite.com which is the federation I'm a member of and it's great. They have schedules and all kinds of information. I suggest you attend a few before you enter one. Since you're in the Cincinnati area you could attend the Northern Kentucky. Contests also get posted on here. Can't help you in the gymnastics department because I'm figure and that's all I'm interested in. It sounds like you're really passionate about competing so get the ball rolling and do it girl!! You only live once and all that hard work and dieting is worth every minute. Being on stage is the best feeling! |

also www.npconline.com has npc schedules.
Locally the NKY is March 22, Mr Cincy is April 12, then there is an INBF show in Dayton May 17 and I believe the OCB is having a show in Cincy for the first time sometime in mid June....you can find the exact details on the website Tufgrl posted. I also sent you PM about another thread you had on here, did you check your PMs? Take care, |

Thanks MUCHO TufGrl and Jason, as always =] I found a competition in October just outside of Youngstown, Ohio. . .very excited. Sorry it took me SoOo long to reply. I get so sidetracked by everything when I'm on the computer. Then, I forget what I got on to do. Anyway, Cardinal Classic 2008 - here I come!! And I'm most definately going to the Northern Kentucky.
