For all those preparing for upcoming shows how far out is your last leg workout.(Quad & Hamstrings).

Most people will suggest that you not work your legs the final week before a show which would include any cardio work. The reasoning is that you want your legs to be as defined as possible on show day. Any significant leg work the final week can draw extra blood and water into the legs and thus work against the thin skinned and ripped look that you are hoping to achieve.
My last planned leg workout will be the Monday in week two before the show. Monday happens to be my leg day, so that is just the day it falls on which will be 13 days out from the show. VA MadDog |

There are varying opinions and practices regarding leg training during the final week. My last weight training day for legs is 7 or 8 days out, as heavy as possible. Cardio, HIIT style, is performed through wednesday of the week of the contest. Two years ago, i performed cardio the morning of the show and did just fine.

My last quad workout is usually about 10-12 days out from the show, hamstrings I train a last time usually on Sunday or Monday before the show. Cardio... what is that, Fitdoc? Just kidding, haven't done any for the last 4 months or so. 2 more weeks to go to the Ohio, who else from the board is competing in it in Columbus?

For my last show I did my last full leg workout on Sat or Sun before. I trained hams/calves light on Mon, Tues, and Wed. My last full out cardio session will be Sun before - Mon, Tues, Wed scaled back at 80%, 70%, 60% respectively.
This year my final full leg day happens to fall on Friday, 8 days out. This worked fine for me, legs were looking good on Thursday. Dwayne |

My last leg workout on a wednesday, 10 days out from my show. Then do cardio up until sunday, then no more legs work. I too am doing the Ohio with Rainer.

I followed jeremiah's advice and cut out heavy squats/deads 10 days out from the show. But that last leg workout before 10 days out was as heavy and brutal as safely as possible. I stuck to 6-12 reps on squats and semi stiff deads. I think this year I am going to try 1 set of 20 reps breathing style, they have added the most size to my thighs in the past.
