Yes.

and

No.

If you are looking to use it for its potential to influence water balance, I think you will be disappointed. I tried it for that a few years back and saw no benefit.

Search the board here there have been a number of discussions regarding successful water and electrolyte manipulation the last week before competition. These approaches in many case are tried and true and have been used by many of us with the same results.

One word: Don't Do It...

I developed a wicked headache.
I believe this stuff is geared more towards endurance athletes who need to be super hydrated to increase performance.
You need to drink 20-25 oz of water for it to be productive without the ensuing headaches and possible diareah. So the water consumption alone, would offset any benefits the glycerol would provide.
Although I'm not a doctor (Fitdoc would be able to enlighten us here....Hey, I'm just a dumb guy from the Bronx..) Glycerol slowly pulls water out of the brain causing the headaches, blurred vision, etc.

Bottom line - Don't do anything crazy the final week.

Good luck at the Worlds in NYC. You'll do incredibly well. No doubts. I was going to attend as a spectator, however a few obligations are pulling me in another direction for this weekend.
Next year I plan to compete at the Worlds; my final show in a full, competitive 2005 season.

Give us the good news when you return from the show Smile
