Seems like im getting on here more and more
My questions of the day. I was upposed to have my carb up meal today but had it a day earlier and also didnt have my standard oats, sweet potato, banana. Nope instead I ate a bunch of junk. Is this a really bad practice? I will get back on to everything the same again but wonder if this will do me some good or harm(Ive been spot on for 6 weeks)? Thanks in advance |

Dont keep any junk food in your house. Also, I would stick to your regularly scheduled carb up days. That always worked best for me. I've gone as far as avoiding family get-togethers because I know there would be foods I'm not supposed to eat there.

Junk food is the best thing for a competition diet. NOT!
Keep your carb ups on schedule because of the reaction to your system. Sparks it up when it is on time. The junk has its time and place. After dieting for several contests, 6-8 months, it will be time for a change and the junk food will cause your system to react much the same as a carb up meal. But...timing is everything. is it bad to eat junk food?
Junk food is the best thing for a competition diet. NOT! I KNOW I KNOW Just wanted a few shoulders to cry on and to hear that it was not to bad and not to do it again. Is one meal substituted really gonna screw me that bad? I guess everyones different(I know if you wanna win remember the guy/girl next to you didn't cheat) Ill have to wait and see. Anyways thanks for the truth |

Raychell - Don't lose sleep over one transgression - just get back onto your diet plan and you will be fine. Almost everyone cheats at least once or twice during a contest prep period, some in small ways others in big ways - just don't do it often or you can derail your progress.
Good luck in meeting your goals! VA MadDog |

Ray, just messin' with ya. Just like VA said, move on and nothing to lose sleep over. It was a mistake in the substitution. One is not going to set you so far back, you're in week 16. Keep the chin up and move forward. No one here is going to be pounding it as though you're whipped, tied and whipped again. Frank |

Junk food precontest, dont do it. But, you have certainly not screwed yourself. You are apparently doing the low carb insulin spike diet with the carbs ups. Actually Ive dieted for 8 weeks before doing just what you did, but I wasnt precontest, but I did lose about 4% bodyfat. In other words for my insulin spike days I certainly spiked my insulin with junk food. I wouldnt risk that approach precontest though.
Junk food in the offseason especially after being strict on diet all week, not going to kill you, and in my experience helps fill me back out, helps my mental, and improves strength, this is ONLY after being strict and on point all week. Ultimately you have to know your body. I have friends who are bodybuilders and if they stray for even a few days you can immediately see a dunlap forming, for me that is just not the case. Know thyself. Move on, and keep your head up. |
