I was wondering if the Northern would be a good first competition or not. I want to compete but have no experience posing. I did but the perfect posing video, but I really don't want to look like a fool. Could someone that has done this before tell me how they prepared for show #1. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Blue
the video is a good start. i had a bb show me the poses and praticed on my own w/ a video camera. getting some tapes from pro shows is also a good way to go.

I agree with Tammy. I had a bb teach me to pose as well. Try to find someoneone at your gym that can give you some tips. Bad posing can ruin a great physique. But it takes a lot of practice so starting now is a great idea. Good luck!
I agree w/ the others. It's best to have someone show you. I did my firsat bb show w/ 21/2 weeks notice. I had a few quick lessons in how to pose, but it takes alot more practice than that. I was thiking of getting the vidio too, since I dont have anyone to help me. What do you think of it?
To answer your question, figure is just quarter turns...which is fairly easy. Just practise turnin in your heels and at the same time keep your body tight....the back pose can be tricky but what I do is flex my back and kinda push the lats out a bit....it is hard to explain like this but I hope it helps some
Hi Angela! Florida was HOT! in the 80s every day! Now im back to the gym hoping to be contest ready by march! How high do those heels have to be? is there any regulations on them such as can they have straps etc? Maggie

Clear High heel shoes, preferrably no platform (from what I was told). I had 4 inch heels for my shows (2)! Quarter turns is right for The Figure Comps and it is very easy. Best suggestion to anyone interested in doing a show is to definitely go watch one or two first to get some ideas! Enjoy yourself is the key here though. Judges want to see that beautiful smile and the muscularity to your body. They want to see everything in porportion.
Good Luck and Have a Blast.!

Hi Melissa! i actually went to one figure show here in atlantic city and they had to do a routine! i was freakin out i spoke to the winner after the show and she said that it was jsut that organization that put on the show that required a routine! whew! i was really nervous on that one, i dont think jumping jacks would qualify as a routine maggie
