Just curious if anyone has an idea of what the typical "benchmarks" are for bodyfat percentages during contest prep.
For example, I am a female with 12%bf at 8wks out for a bb show. What do you think, on target or not? The way I figured it, I have approx 5lbs of fat to lose at 1 pound/wk I would be ahead of schedule because that would put me at 7% if I am blessed to maintain muscle. Is this good logic? |

I would say that 6-7 % mark for most women is close to ideal for natural female BB! AS long as the weight loss coincides with the perfect macros(P/C/F) you are using for your bodytype allow you maintain your muscle as you are dropping bodyfat all along and that line is very tight when going below maintenance cals!

At 12% and 8 weeks out, I'd say you're sitting pretty right now. However as you work to drop your BF lower the risk of losing muscle increases so as Craig mentioned, it's important that your macronutrient ratios be inline with body type/metabolism.
With approximately 5lbs to go I'd give you about 6 weeks to lose them and then have the last two weeks available to start brining your calories (mainly in the form of carbs) up a little so that you can go into your show looking full AND shredded. |
