Frown Hey all, how is everyone? My week has been nuts! I am so feeling it too! Everyone around me is getting sick, and I am 41/2 weeks out from my 1st show. The last thing I need is to get sick. I have had to step up the cardio to get my legs leaner, and man I am feeling icky today!
Any suggesstions for staying healthy?
P.s. you have all been a great help so far. Thanks! Jen

I assume you are taking the MS Power Pak. That will help. Id also start using extra Vitamin C and exra glutamine would help too. Get plenty of sleep and rest and keep you hands clean. And of course avoid the sickies. Good luck,

I feel your pain.. I'm 9 days out from my show and I had to step up cardio also.. and I can't sleep through the night - ever! Like Jason said.. I'm upping my Vit. C, B-complex, Energy Reserve, glutamine and try to just let your body rest as much as you can. I hit it hard 3 times a day (morning/noon/after work).. it leaves precious little 'down' time.. but you'll set yourself further behind.. and maybe work into a serious cold/illness - or injury! So - listen to your body. Also, being female myself.. I KNOW my LEGS never lean out.. or look ready till the week before the show.. so - give it time! Wink

I recovered! I took a nap that day and it made a huge difference. Plus, i did up the vit. c.
Good luck Brochas! how many shows have you done?
I am sooo nervous. I am 4weeks out, and I put my suit on the other day, and I was holding onto a lot of water and got really sad! My body is so sensitive to everything, but I a, not sure what it was that did it? I am still feeling funky. It is much better now though. Well, I have some home work to do. Talk to u later.

Glad you are feeling better.. I find that the closer I get to the show, my mind changes almost hourly on how 'ready' I am! Relax as much as you can and enjoy the entire experience! You'll do great. I've done 6 shows so far and I'm doing 2 more in the next 2 weeks. Still learning with every show and trying to gain from the experience. This is a great board to field your questions. What show are you doing?? Don't worry about your look in the suit 4 weeks out..trust me - you'll look very different with the water manipulation/depletion for your show. Hang in there!! Razz

Hi..digestive problems with the high protein intake, and if you are lower in the carb area is common. I tkae SF Metamucil or Fibercon tablets. They both help! Drink a lot of water too, it's very important. Yes, you can eat salmon and tuna - I'm still eating tuna now at 5 days out! I'll drop it in a day or two. You'll do just great with your first show. enjoy it.. I tend to get so caught up in it all - like it's life or death! Give it your all and do the best you can.. and let it go from there. You are a winner by just competing and getting on stage! Keep me posted.. and relax. Have fun..! Big Grin

High protein shouldn't be getting you run-down. If you're eating a lot of beef, go toward the med-rare. Make sure you're eating plenty of veggies. You're probably experiencing the lesser calories from the diet. Add green tea to your beverage list.

The carb ups, I found if you take your time to eat the meal, it will sit better in your tummy. Take at least a 1/2 hour to consume the meal.

As far as staying healthy, keep up with your ZMA and your Power-Pak.

Time is drawing close and you'll be back on your regular diet. That will help.

Best wishes on your contest.
Frank
