Hey everyone. I hang out here a lot, and the info here is very helpful. But I have some questions that I have not been able to find the answers to. Hope you can help. I am thinking about entering a competition. I have never done this before. Although it has been a dream of mine for many years. I would like to schedule an appt. w/ Beverly. I am in Cinti., so I have the ability to actually go there. I want to know....do they teach you to pose? Give you the lowdown on what all is involved in one of these competitions? I feel a little intimidated by the unknown. Can any of you tell me what it is like? Where to start? I have already found a show, (i think.) I just feel like I am ready to do this, but I'm totally in the dark.

As far as posing, you can pick up the perfect posing video, just do a search for that title.
It would probally be a good idea to go to a competition before you actually do one, or at least get a video of one. I would say you're in a good situation being so close to Beverly. I wish I lived closer. I'm sure they'll do everything they can to help you. Hi gipsi35. The folks at BI have offered some posing seminars in the past, but I am not sure if they are still doing that. If you meet with them about your diet plan you can ask all of your other questions, they are easy to talk to.
Are you getting the BI magazines? They put out a No Nonsense Newsletter that is very good. Call to sign up for it and ask them to send you what back issues they have on hand or pick them up when you go there. Reading through those will give you some insight. The articles are written by or about BI clients so they are all real life examples of how others have approached thier fitness lifestyles. Do you know anyone at your gym who has competed as a natural competitor? If so, sit down with them and ask your questions. There is a lot to this, but it is not especially difficult or complicated. The hardest part is sorting through all of the information out there and deciding what is good and valid and what is out there just for marketing purposes (i.e. to sell you stuff) What Divisons are you thinking about competing in and when is the show you have in mind? In person as your show approaches they do go over posing with you. Its not super extensive, but your advisor will make good suggestions.

I found a show on the NPC list here in Cincy called the Big Dust Classic? Anyone ever heard of that? It's in mid October. Anyway, I want to do bodybuilding. You have all given me some good stuff to start with. Thanks. I'll keep you posted.

The Big Dust was new last year, so this coming October will be its second year. I didnt attend, but heard there as a decent turnout.
