During contest prep especially the last month of it I get hungry in-between meals. To fight off hunger I usually take some BCAA's in-between my meals. I also heard that this will create a more positive nitrogen balance...
Will this technique help or hurt my contest prep? I just started doing it and want to know if I am hurting myself in any way, as far as I know there are no calories in plain BCAA’s. |

There were several great ideas that came up in the last Beverly Contest countdown to help curb hunger. Here were some ideas:
[LIST]Crystal Lite popsicals Drink Glutamine select (can't go wrong here) iced tea or coffee (the caffeine can help curb appetite sugar free JELLO cellery, lettuce, etc... BCAA's will never hurt anyone pre-contest. I swear by them to retain muscle during severe caloric restriction. |

Ignoring hunger is nearly impossible. The other things that are suggested only seem to stimulate hunger...when you're doing nothing and bored.
My suggestion is to stay busy, don't find time to relax. Divide meals to make more meals, eating a little more broccoli and spinach. If you're doing 3 solid, 2 shakes, make 5 solid and 2 shakes. Drink plenty of water, consume at least 20 oz of water during your meals. Add 3 Mass Aminos with BCAAs if needed between meals. You're a large mass, 9 Mass Aminos in a day is not going to ruin your progress. Frank "Lift and be happy. Lift harder and be excited...Get Excited, Get Big!!!" |
