Hi guys. To you experienced competitors...about how many 8 oz. bottles of pro tan am I going to need for my show? I am female, 5'4, 122 lbs. I am fair skinned, so I will probably need about 4 coats. Thanks!

I would go with two.

You will more than likely get by with one...but what happens if for some reason you have to start from scratch and reapply the day before the event???

Better to have two, they do not expire and you can always use your left overs for your next show or sell them to a friend.

Here is a great way to apply....

Use gloves
Shake
Pour into a bowl (old cool whip containers work great)
Place an old sock over the glove onto your hand or that of the person helping you
Dab sock in bowl
Slowly apply as if staining fine wood work starting at the feed
Be careful of all joints as the wrinkles in your skin will collect more of the dye

Best of luck!

Thanks guys! I'm glad I asked. I was only going to order one bottle. Better safe than sorry. As for the Dream tan. I have thought about it, but there is so much more info out there on Pro tan, and this is my first show. I am trying to keep things as simple as possible for myself!
Thanks for the application info. I can't believe how stressed out I am becoming with some of the small details! At least it takes my mind off of the carb deprivation! Wink

Think of it this way, you can never get too dark. If you're not going to use Dream Tan, I would suggest at least 6 coats. If you have time, 8.

Protan really isn't all that great. It smelss, is tedious to put on and dry and then flakes off so you look like you have a skin disease.

Jan Tana is so much easier to put on, it spreads evenly, coats darkly and one small bottle will last you thorugh several shows. Try doing a couple of mystic tans at the tanning booth for two days before and this will give you an even and lasting base that wont' come off of everything! Then put on the Jan Tana the morning of the show 1-2 coats.
