Hi Curt, this is Robert. I was the guy who came in 2nd. place in the Masters' and 1st. place in the light heavy division. I for one was'nt looking at you strange when you were eating, a matter of fact I thought it was normal because I have seen it many times backstage. Now, I will be honest,YES!!" You can always improve on that condition that you presented that day, probably was still holding some water". But it is hard to give a totally honest opinion because I did'nt see your body up on stage with all the lights and with you flexing to bring out the seperations. But I had you as the overall winner, what I did'nt expect was myself up there on stage in the over-all posedown, that was a first for me. I am hoping to greatly improve upon that in October, this time I am coming better than ever.

I do not mean to jump into this thread but I have been reading and following it and I was just wondering why some of you guys do not use Beverly for contest preps. Dr. Joe sounds great but man is he expensive and Beverly will help you for free. I have had great success with Beverly preps. Maybe you could use Dr. Joe and have the Beverly prep suggestions as a back up plan? I dont mean to sound disrespectful, I was just wondering?

mecca,
I've always done my own prep. However I have used Jeremiah, and most recently Mark Ritter. I considered Dr. Joe, but when he raised his price this year I decided against it. I believe it is money well spent though. I have attended very expensive seminars by Charles Poliquin, Mile Francios, and others and it has been worth every penny. I am sure I would've learned plenty with Dr. Joe. Bodybuilding is a lifetime passion for me, so any time I can make an investment in increasing my bank of knowledge, I never view it as "too expensive". Next year, I plan on hiring Dr. Joe. Back to Jeremiah and Mark. These two guys have always dialed me in. I remember being in a hotel room 5 years ago on the eve of my show, panicking because I looked flat, withdrawn, and depleted. I called Beverly headquarters, spoke to Jeremiah, and he told me exactly what to eat, in what amounts, down to the exact gram. The following day I went to the show and won the first of my 2 pro cards. Last year, I worked with Mark and at 8 weeks out from both my shows, we sent him photo's every week, and he adjusted my diet accordingly from week to week, gave me a plan for the final peak week, and I ended up winning the overall in both shows. This foundation of knowledge that I've acquired over the years from Beverly and others, whether I have paid for their services or not, has made me a better bodybuilder and has also allowed me the privilege to help others in their own bodybuilding endeavors. Next year when I work with Dr. Joe, I have no doubts that I will continue to improve, as I continue to thwart off the impending twilight of my career. Aram Aram N. Hamparian Pro Natural Bodybuilder |

I can agree with the above...I was shocked to find that his price went up. Also have to echo that anything you can do to increase your knowledge base you should do. I prefer to work with people that have a good solid base of natural guys. Aram, couple of things...I assume you are going to choose only one of the pro organizations to compete in. I ask because I got my WNBF papers last week and they are very implicit that if you compete in any other pro organization that you potentially could be banned from the WNBF. Personally I think its **** because you should be able to compete whenever and in whatever event you want. Oh, and naturalbajan.....if there is anything I can do to help you out, let me know. I do have a final week prep plan that you might find interesting. |

I know free is free, but like Aram its hard to put a price tag on the wealth of knowledge you attain by using someone like Dr. Joe!! I basically felt that I have received another degree in nutrition by using him and he has helped me to help others!! If you really think about it for what you get and the time that he does spend with you for the prep up to your show, he was the one getting cheated because
$500 for the length of time near for 4-5 months is a steal when you divide that into 5 months! Go to a nutritionist anyhwere else and see the money you will be laying out to pay for one!! His diets work very well for the non-bodybuilding type as it can be something that can last in terms of being something your can adapt to everyday situations and use to keep yourself within the realm of an ideal weight w/o feeling like it is a fad diet!! There is no real need to feel that this will go inot some sort of yoyo dieting thing!! Now on the other hand $1000, gets pretty steep, if you have to pay for him now as this would limit his people that he would service, and give him time to devote towards the new end of his business of selling the Pharmanex Product lines!! Yes, he is $1000 for show prep. Pretty much what a lot of other people are charging. The highest I have come in contact with is $2000. No thanks!!! Slightly off topic....not to impressed with the whole Pharmanex thing. Multi-level things really get under my skin. They talk about anti-oxidants....but there is limited amounts of one of the best antioxidants known : glutathione. I have had personal experience with some of the sales guys coming in to the offices that I am with and I have been less than impressed with their professionalism. |

Joe to me and Like I said I have known him now for 5 years has never been one to just feed you a line, I really don't think he could, he is just too honest of a man to try and lie like that! I understand where you are coming from with this whole venture, but just from personal experience and knwoing him on more of friendly basis, i guess!!
Last year my wife and I went out to Indiana and met Joe and spent the weekend with him and his wife and his 4 kids and you could not meet a nicer guy!! We worked out, practiced posing at least 5 times in 2 days, went to the movies with the whole family, and just hung out, what a down to Earth guy!! Craig....something you should know....I am not bashing Joe. I would not do that. Some of your posts come across like you are defending him. He does not need to be defending as no one is attacking him. Hope you can see that. |

I dislike orgs that try and control the athletes. I have competed as a pro with the NBI but not the USBF. Since I have won prize money, I wouldn't compete as an amateur in that particular org. I agree with you regarding where one chooses to compete. The NGA, much like the WNBF also tried to control it's pro's. If I see a show I want to do with XYZ organization in *&%$# Siberia, then I will do so. As long as I am not a pro in that org I will compete as an amateur. Should I ever disobey "rules" and subsequently be banned from an organization... so be it. No one has any control over me concerning where I want to compete. My perception is, if I am banned...who cares? I am a drug tested, polygraphed natural bodybuilder. There are a lot worse things I could be doing. Aram N. Hamparian Pro Natural Bodybuilder |

Curt,
I don't think you are, I was suspicious at 1st about this because I felt I knew what he stood for and then I have been using the the Vitamins for 5 months now and I really have felt a real difference in the quality of the vitamins!! We're cool, just really showing how human some guys a can be and are not full of themselves, Dr. Joe is one of those people! Sometimes he seems a little too laid back, but never when it comes to answering the endless questions of his clients, its just his way, never in a rush or panics!! Aram,
I really think the rules sometimes for the WNBF/NGA stem from the time that these two organizations parted ways from the original NGA which was the original INBF, so they try and stop each other from getting each other's athletes!!
