Just wondering how all of you are doing that are planning on competing at the Northern Kentucky on March 19.

I'm hangin' in there!! Had a meltdown and wanted to give up New Years Eve but with the help of a lot of supportive folks (many here) I got back on the wagon!

I'm on the Monday and Thursday carb up meals and if any of you have not yet tried the carb up bread...YOU MUST!! Look it up under the recipe section. I never thought I'd crave oatmeal, sweet potato and banana so bad...and butter...ooooooooooo the butter!!

My work cloths are falling off and I don't know what I'll wear when I lose even more weight! The butt is all bagged out!!! Razz
Which is a good thing! I'll have to get my skinny clothes back out from previous comps.

Well, hope everyone is progressing as planned! Best of luck to all...we're in the home stretch Big Grin

Good for you. Sounds like you are on track!
Can you post what you're doing for training?
How long do you do the diet you're on now?

Thanks Lauren! Will you be competing?

I started the Mon and Thursday carb ups last Wednesday and I'm not sure how long I'll be on it. My Bev advisor said she'll be tweaking it week to week from here on out.

As for training, I'm working with a trainer two days a week now and here's the general routine:
Monday-Back and Tri, abs and cardio
Tuesday-Chest and Bi, cardio
Wednesday-Quads, Hams, and calfs, cardio
Thursday-Delts, abs
Friday-off
Saturday-Light circuit legs (quads,hams,calfs)
Sunday-off

Cardio is 15-20 minutes of HIIT.
Abs, I generally pick 4 exercises and do 4 sets of 25 reps. Also, I compete in bodybuilding. I'll start posing in a week or so and still train heavy for another week or two.

No, i don't compete. Maybe someday I would do figure but for now I just want to look the part!
I do the chest and biceps together - don't you hate that!? Smile I do it but don't really love it...but then I can focus on tri's separately.

If you hang around here enough you'll probably get the bug to compete! But good for you for just wanting to look dang good!!

I actually love Chest w/Bi and Back w/Tri!! Crazy?? Perhaps! But I get such a great Bi and Tri workout that way.

I WOULD compete, but for the requirement of wearing a sparkly bikini with high heels. (ick.)
The tanning doesn't really appeal either.

But I salute EVERYONE wholeheartedly for going for it. You're amazing in my books. Smile

Shred Betty,
I know its a matterof preference but in the long run your triceps will be getting three days work on this schedule as long as you do some sort of shoulder presses on your shoulder days!! That can definitely lead to overtraining those smaller muscle groups which will not benefit you to move more weight on your bigger muscle groups(Chest, Back, and Legs)!! The same will hold true for youer bis, whih when I am done with my back workout, the next day would be very hard to train my biceps and the same for the triceps, if my triceps did not assist me enough on my Chest days, I don't know how I would be able to train my tris the next day!! This really holds true when you do your tris on the 1st day and then do your chest the next day where this will impede your chest workout!! You need to watch about overlapping your muscle groups!! With days off in between, I really like to work a 4 day split with a 2 days on and one day off!!
Day 1-Chest/tris/ABS
Day 2-Legs/calves
Day 3-OFF
Day 4-Shoulders/Traps/ABS
Day 5-Back/bis/Calves
Day 6-OFF
Day 7-Repeat day 1
Just a suggestion!!! Natural athletes have to watch how they train more than the unnatural ahtlete where their bodies recover so fast and the pain of working out is masked a lot of the time!!

That split looks good. I think I'll try it myself. Due for a change. Cheers!

I am with cytrainer on that one, I used a similar split for my last contest and got great results.

#1 Chest/tri
#2 off from heavy lifting-(abs/cardio)
#3 back/bicep
#4 off from heavy lifting-(abs/cardio)
#5 shoulder/trap
#6 off from heavy lifting-(abs/cardio)
#7 legs
#8 depends on how hard you train legs, you can start the cycle over or just take the day off and work on stretching and walking down steps normal and sitting on the toilet

I have found that grouping chest/tri you can really pound those heavy compound mvnts for triceps(dips, nosebreakers, close grips, reverse grip smythes)

I guess my post needed some more explanation...

I was doing Chest/Tri, Back/Bi for a long period and was not getting the results I wanted because if I did Chest first, my tris were spent..same with doing back first..bis were then spent. So I then tried tri first then chest and didn't like those results either. So when I changed to Chest/Bi..etc I really felt better training all groups. But, I will only do this for a few weeks and go back to the usual split.

As for the days of rest..I really try to take Wednesday and Sunday off but with other obligations my days off have to fall when they do.

I like your splits Craig and mecca and will try to incorporate more of what you suggested.

Thanks for your input!!

Magster-Glad you posted, I was wondering how you were doing! Thanks for the support, I'm very glad I stuck with it as well!!
So how is your training going?

My diet basically is
Meal1 is 2.5 scoops US +1/2 grapefruit
Meal 2 is 6oz lean meat+large salad
Meal 3 is 2 scoops US+ 4 strawberries
Meal 4 is 2 scoops US
Meal 5 is 6oz lean meat 1 cup veggies

Sometimes I'll take the food option in place of a shake or two. Monday and Thursday carb meal.

As I mentioned the bread is awesome! I've been on the 2 weekly carb meals for two weeks now and it's really wierd....it seems to make me tierd! After my carb meal Thursday I was really tierd Fri-Sunday. Then totally awake and feeling good until after my Tuesday carb meal...I could fall asleep at my desk right now! I'm getting about 7 hours sleep to. Anyone else experience this?

Well, good luck Maggie...it's almost here! Let me know how it's goin!

It is a lot of shakes but depending on if I'm running out of meat or if i have meetings it's easier to down a shake then meat. I pick the whole food options on weekends for sure. Actually I missed my post workout shake in that list!! Add another!

What do you mean hopefully??!! Big Grin
You're doin it woman!! You gotta hang tuff with me!

Check the recipe post for my bread responce.

Hi Maggie! Prep is going good but my weight loss has slowed a bit and I've been hoovering at my current weight for about two weeks. I emailed my advisor for suggestions.
It's 'that time of the month' so that may have something to do with it? Too much info..sorry! Once I started the carb up meals my fat loss stopped Confused Interesting!???

My carb night is tomorrow..yahooo Big Grin

How's your prep going? Has it gotten easier for you to avoid those goodies around work since the holidays are over? And ya made it in Florida..good job! Sounded nice and sunny!
