Yesterday marks 12 weeks until my next competition. It has been 4 months since my last contest. I've been anxious to get back believe it or not-I enjoy the journey! The changes in my physique, the stress of planning meals, the double daily cardio sessions, yes I enjoy it all(mostly, we all have our days).

So I competed at 105 last October, planning to hit the same this time also.
I have maintained 112-113 and feel I have gained some lean mass. My current bodyfat is approx 15%.

I started my prep 1wk ago:
  • 2-30 minute LISS sessions daily and 2on/1off
  • 2on/2off training schedule.
  • Supplements: Slintrol Meal 1,2,5,6; Fish Oil
    Glutamine 5g 3xdaily, Creatine 5g PWO
I followed a diet similar to this off season, Jason just cleaned it up a bit:
  • 1495 calories: 37P/43C/23F
    Meal 1: 125g eggwhites, 20g yolk, 32g Oats, 40g strawberries
    Meal 2: 55g chicken, 120g potato, 80g broccoli, 20g almonds, 1 fish oil cap
    Meal 3: 27g MP, 90g sweet potato, 30g blueberries, 1 fish oil
    Meal 4: 70g 99%Turkey, 110g sweet potato, 50g broccoli, 12g almonds
Meal 5: 80g Top Sirloin, 110g potato, 100g omelet veggies
    Meal 6: 24g MP, 25g oats, 55g strawberries, 1 fish oil

Overall I'm doing well down approx .4 lb in just a week. We are looking for slow steady drop probably less than a lb a week. Starting at 113 last week and past 2 days it has been 112.6. I know my diet looks great now, but it will change, my fruits will be eliminated and my carbs will drop gradually.
I will try to post regularly any diet/training changes and photos. I saw amazing changes last year and I was not as conditioned as I am now when I began. Should be interesting.

Are you a Catholic sister? No offense intended but you started your post out like I started out my confession in the confessional. LOL.

I look forward to tracking your progress Leslie and will be here to support you every step of the way. May your energy stay high as well as your carbs for as long as possible. These 50 gram days sure are tough.

It also looks like you have made a change in the do, cut shorter??? Looks great!

    Thank you!
So Friday I'm up .8 pounds from the past two days. And yes, I stepped on & off the scales 3x waiting for it to read correctly. I didn't feel any different.
Funny thing this weight variation. I am leaning out nicely however.
It's unusual for me to see an increase like this. My sleep has been lacking this week, I'm contributing some of it to that. Who knows.
But today, back to 112 which is still a 1 lb. loss for 2weeks. Sleep is important.

So today I finally hit 111.5- such fluctuations, but part of the process. I had'nt had a drop in almost a week so J was about to change my diet to non-train/train day schedule. After a few refinements, since I did drop finally, we only cut back on the fats and I will continue same diet/cardio NT & T days.
I will miss those crunchy little almonds. Red Face

What??? First you reveal a recipe with blueberries and now you say that you had almonds in the diet. Ooooohhhhhh! I won't say what i am thinking sister. LOL. I have two more weeks and I will once again have some fruit, nuts and butters, and a bit of variety in my diet. Not to mention two cheats a week. Then the shoe will be on the other foot, I'll sit back and watch your posts and progress towards the competition. May the fat loss be relatively easy and I hope that you can eat into the competition.

Continue to keep us posted. Smile

Cracking me up...thanks for the well wishes.
Pretty mean of me to post that pick and brag on those bberries..You owe me, come up w/a great recipe during your break to get me back.
My weight is crazy..Yesterday 111.5 now today 110.8. So J took out my pm cardio for today and we will watch daily.
I thik it has to do with not sleeping(not by choice). The past 2nights, I've been able to sleep, and bam..huge drops. I like sleep, it's just hard to come by for me sometimes.

I know I hear ya. The only way to get more time out of the day is to sacrifice the sleep. Not to mention, just a little stress and its difficult to get a good restful night of sleep. I hope it improves but, to be honest, don't count on it. Just do what ya can when ya can and it'll all balance itself out.

I love melatonin just one 5 mg tab and any sleep I'm able to get is far more restful

Yea, I tried that years ago, not much difference. I will get it and try again though.
    Thanks for the reminder.

Hey Leslie....I also use a tea from Celestial Seasonings, it's called sleepy time, there's an extra strong one available too. It helps me sleep better.

But the important thing to note is are you not getting enough sleep because it's just not restful. That's when the melatonin and sleepytime tea may help. But if you are trying to eek more time out of the day then that's a whole different story. We all should shoot for 8 hours but its virtually impossible in this day and age really to get that much. I average maybe 6-6.5. And I know that Jason doesn't get that 8 either, he's told me, and he emails me later at night. I know he is also doing a.m. cardio precontest.

The sleep issue is a combination, Robbi. It has always been this way for me though. I'll try the tea, I like to have a warm cup of tea before bed anyway.

So today is 2wks dieting and 10 wks til contest(9 wks til pkwk). My weight was dropping a little too quickly and J took pm cardio out for 2 days this week. That was nice. Today I'm up .5 lb -which probably is best since I have so much time. It was hard to see that number increase, even though I knew it should/would/needed to go up some.
All in all 2wks down and approx 1.5 lb loss is good. I must go take a nap! LOL

Just thought I would share the fluctuations in my weight for those who get frustrated when dieting. I know many who give up after 1-2 days of dieting just b/c the scale doesn't move like they want. Your body has to adjust to dietary & activity changes, so it may retain water. So here's a glance at mine past 2 wks. It has fluctuated more than usual for me, but I believe in my diet & it's maker(thanks-J), so I just ignore the higher days the best I can. It has taught me not to panic and make changes too quickly based on 1 or 2 days numbers. ~Actually Jason has taught me this.
    24-Mar 112
    25-Mar 111.8
    26-Mar 111.8
    27-Mar 112.6 wtf?
    28-Mar 112.2
    29-Mar 112.4
    30-Mar 112
    31-Mar 111.5
    1-Apr 110.8
    2-Apr 110.6
    3-Apr 111.4 ugh!
    4-Apr 110.4
    5-Apr 111
    6-Apr 110.4

especially you, you dont have a ton to lose. 105 and you were shredded for bodybuilding last time so at 110, we cant move to quick here.

If we dont see 109 something this week we will adjust.

Thanks for sharing sister. Good to see that it happens to others and that they react the same way that I did. Ultimately it does boil down to the numbers one week later, not the fluctuations from day to day.

AF is right, I dont do this to drive someone batty, its really as a cautionary tool and I use it to zero in the diet. The worst thing would be to give someone I cant see weekly a diet and say do this. The first week they drop 5 lbs, that means its to harsh and cals are to low, which will inevitably bottom their metabolism, you can only drop so quick if you want to keep your metabolism running the whole way through.

Well this weekend marks 9wks out, 8wks until peak week. I was hitting some new lows(109.5s), down 1 lb for the week. Then today jumping back to 110.4(no worries).
I'll post some pics this week. I am definitely leaning out. I started MS & Density 1 week ago and am noticing increase in energy in the gym too.
