Bear. See other post in Contest Prep about this topic. 1. I'd only use the bronzer on your face - I wouldn't recommend pro-tan on the face. ugh! 2. I use dream tan/bronzer or apply very dark facial makeup to face morning of the show. 3. Be careful around the areas you note - elbows/feet/ankles/knees. They get the same # of coats.. but go lightly. 4. I tan first and get relatively dark - but I still apply 4-5 coats of pro-tan and wash off after each application.I start this on Wednesday the week of the show. I will apply dream tan Friday night - sleep in it. Touch up a.m. of show. 5. I exfoliate, shave and prep skin week of show. Using lots of moisturizer to keep skin soft. I then dry shave or touch up with razor on areas that look like they need it after tan is on. As I stated, I shower after each coat of pro-tan or apply in a.m., 2nd coat in p.m. and shower or sleep in it. 6. When I use the ultra-bronzer, I do this on-top of other products at the show - right before taking stage. Also, check with promoter - some shows ban use of Pam spray and only allow posing oil. Some ban hot stuff. Just don't be TOO Light.. biggest mistake you can make. Error on the side of applying more pro-tan coats, finish with dream tan or bronzer. Pat on oil.. and go!

Yeah, I can't imagine putting protan on my face. I bet that would be a major pain to get off, not to mention, that's one area you can't hide when it starts getting all discolored and blotchy like the rest of your body. My fiance used black womans makeup on my face and did a very nice job of matching the color. I went to the store Friday night with my next to last coat of protan on and she matched it up. We made sure to pay the extra $$ and get the good stuff, this made all the difference in the world, it didn't smudge or run on me at all. It also came off with her facial cleaner cloths very eaily after the show. I also tanned a lot in the tanning bed to get a good base.

I usually use one coat of Protan on my face, put that on Friday, then just even out with excess Dreamtan the day of the show. I just use a small makeup sponge for the face, very light to even out, this way it's never been a problem getting it clean there, as opposed to the rest of the body. You definitely wanna do at least 4 coats, careful with the Dreamtan, don't put that on too thick, otherwise it will smooth you out on stage. I start shaving weeks out from the show, this way I don't have to worry about any razor burns the last week, last major shave is usually Wednesday morning, then first coat that night, if necessary I also just dry shave areas that need it. One thing that helps keep your skin moisturized is to use a good self tanning lotion, put a coat of that on every time after you come out of the shower and washed of your Protan, plus it helps to even out. Good luck!

quote: Really? I wondered how the self tanning lotions worked or came into play with products like protan. I have some California Tan self tanning lotion. Maybe I'll try this tomorrow morning after my first coat of protan tonight to see how it works on me? California tan is a pretty evenly tanning and quality product, I usually use their tanning bed products. What brand do you use? I got great results last time without at coat of bronzer on Sat morning. I just did protan, a coat wed, thur, two on fri and one on sat morning (didn't rinse the friday or sat coats) then just used pam for sheen.

Just some FYI for others, I tried the sunless tanning lotion after rinsing the protan this morning along with coating my face with it and it is amazing how well it worked, especially on my face. I will need much less face make-up to match the protan color this time, I'm already sure of that. It also blended the neck/face line very well. If you are interested the exact product that I used is California Tan's Summer Illusion. Thanx Rainer!
