I was wondering if I can be competitive at light-heavyweight. Currently I weigh 210 lbs, with about 13% body fat and I'm 5'10". The trainer at my gym is telling me to go middle weight but I've done the cutting weight thing in college for wrestling and I don't know if I want to drop 40 lbs. I still want to compete, but if I'm not going to do well? Any advise? I posted earlier, the show I'd like todo is in Aripl 24.

The best advice I can give is to not worry about what weight class you end up in.

Just get in the best conditon as possible and don't worry about the weight.

40 pounds is a lot to lose in 3 months. It can be done, but it's probally not the best idea. You will most certainly lose muscle along the way if you go this route.

You might want to get within 15-20 pounds of your target weight, and then plan a show for 3 months from then.

I just saw that both Aram and Mike answered your question in another post.

I defer to their wisdom Smile

Looking purely at the stats you have about 27.3 lbs of fat and 182.7 lbs of lean mass.

You have a minimum of 17 to 18 lbs of fat to lose to put you in show shape. This could take 18 to 24 weeks.

The goal of any bodybuilder (especcialy if you are using Beverly products) to maintain or build muscle while dieting. If you lost lets say 20 lbs and kept all of your muscle that will put you at about 190 lbs before you go into your final week.

Your goal should not to lose muscle. Before you say anything about wanting to be at the top of your class just remember any bodybuilders goal should be to the best they can be.

If your the best on stage you will be the best regardless if you are a light heavy or middleweight. Come in shredded, maintain or build muscle and just let the numbers fall where they may!
