I will be 4 weeks out on saturday for figure.. I have been following the carb up meal plan.
I am being certified in spinning on saturday and sunday and from what my director said we spin for most of the day- about 5 hours each day. Should I change my carb scheme for this weekend? How to I feul for these rides, I have to go this weekend, its expensive and my club is paying for it.... any suggestions??

Not to veer from your regular numbers too much, I would use your 2 carb up meals on Friday and Sunday to get your through the workouts and then Sunday to refuel after all the losses you will encounter!! Maybe its that simple??

Craig,

I disagree. This is going to be similar to a marathon or tri-athlete comp. Two days. I figure it's going to be taxing on the muscles. 10 hours total of hard driving cardio is all I can say. It will be sapping all the energy from the muscles and probab. I've done spin class before, so I can't imagine 5 hours!

I would use a carb up for breakfast, about 2-3 hours before and not the night before. Follow a contest day prep and use some of the Muscle Provider goo, higher on the simple carbs, some PB and MP. Even the use of a higher cal sports drink may be considered.

I would do this for both days.

Be sure to take some Muscle Mass and other muscle sparing supps. Even Energy Reserve may be more useful in preventing muscle loss.

Note: Have the carb up meal for breakfast both days.

Do you remember some of the precontest breakfasts? Pancakes, bananas, syrup and all the good things you're not supposed to eat? That's the kind of breakfast I'm referring to along with using some complex carbs.

Have plenty of fluids available!

maybe just play out the 1st spin day and see how you feel from the carb up on fri nightand then if you need to add a 3rd carb up meal sat night when you get home and then the last carb up meal sun night when you are done!! Too much and I think you will be setting yourself back for your show in 4 weeks!!

thanks guys... I am assuming we arent riding the 5 hours straight but on and off the bike to practice techniques and learn choreograpy as well as simulate a class setting. I will do the carbs as if contest... oats in the morning yes with some pb for some satiety and mp of course... muscle mass will be taken along with glutamine as I ride all day long. I will see how the day goes, I would rather undercarb then over carb and not burn it off. I might even bring a protein bar in case... The group all goes out to lunch, of course I wont be dining on restaurant fare... all that riding will usually decrease my appetite anyway, so easy to digest carbs and protein most of the day... thanks for your imput.
