Question about Carb up:
As I have stated in previous posts I am carb phobic and maybe carb sensitive. For a LW, right on the 155 cusp, around High 4's , 5% bf, 5 foot 9, 31 years old - Novice division - 2nd show.
What should I do about the carb up? Last show I waited till Saturday Morning to eat carbs. I followed the beverly water depletion schedule, took taraxatone and K+ only friday and saturday.

I am planning on a carb up 1 week out, Have a carb meal that sunday - But use something light like Kashi.
Then Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - no carbs and veggies. Thursday - I will have two meals with kashi, Friday - tuna and grapefruit - low salt. Saturday eat carbs.

I am taking U40's, lean out and density.

Sorry - Number 6 - page 3 , Mens Novice Classes - bottom half of page - blue trunks.

So no Kashi? What I was told that it was less heavy than oats or sweet potatoes? Let me know what you think, your help is greatly appreciated!

Kashi??? Not a good plan bro. Sorry. Better off to go with White/Red Potato because of its starchy and fibrous content and exclusive potassium sparing/water absorption effects.

Also you may want to check your tuna. If you are looking for a low sodium on Friday, most cans of "tuna in water" hold 250mg of sodium per serving... that is about 650mg per can! That isn't low sodium my man.

Thank you Vijay.

Do you think low sodium tuna is bad as well?

Lean beef isn't exactly lower sodium, but something about the inclusion of beef and grapefuit at every meal the day before the contest really helps you dry out fast! Beverly has been perscribing that for years! And it has allways worked for me. I am not 100% sure about the tuna even if it is lower sodium. I am pretty sure that the natural occuring fats and salts in the lean beef help to dry you out...

That being said, if you are used to doing tuna, then go with that. You DON'T want to do something new that you aren't used to doing a day before your show. That would be silly.

How much lean beef for a LW and how lean would you recommend?

My concern is that beef tends to make me so lethargic. But, I eat very little beef and when I do eat it, its tyically in a resturant. So my reference point is skewed.

Try to stay away from anything processed/packaged.

Beef is not your thing, COOK some talapia. If cook it in a nonstick, slightly overcook and you'll have a treat, even if you don't add any seasoning. If you want to add some, a little paprika will do.

Carb up with white or sweet potatoes or both.

Tilapia and asparagus works extremely well for me! No red meat for me at all while training.
