Hi there, boy it has been along time since I have been on here. I did a bodybuilding comp about 5 years ago and am thinking about doing it again in May. My issue is I am not sure I have enough mass for it. I have been told I could step on stage as is and do a figure comp, but I can not afford to do it because the suits are so much! I stay lean and in shape year round and I am not sure how to prepare for this bodybuilding comp. My source of carbs right now mainly come from berries and salads and. I really do not eat hardly any starchy carbs except pizza once a week. I dontknow if I were to follow a BEverly diet that has oatmeal and sweet potatoes and things like that would be good for me at 11 weeks out or not. Will I gain weight? I can do what I am doing now which is mostly Beverly Ump,(my favorite),tuna, protein yogurt, berries salads and nuts and seeds, lots of pumpkin seeds, but not sure if I wil be lean enough. My bf is already low,not sure how low,I do better not knowing,(former eating disorder),I know if I just diet for a short time I will be lean enough for the bodybuilding but I dont want to look skinny. Just not sure where to start. I know this is probably a bit confusing and I apologize. I would appreciate any input. Thanks so much.

Being too lean is rarely a concern but for figure it can be. As far as suits go see if you can get a used one. Often times athletes only wear them once. Perhaps Ebay or Craigs list. Cherrybombs.com or Suits By Amy are also good sources. If you are as lean as you say then the added CHO would be the best thing for you. Oatmeal in the morning, some yam or brown rice at meal 3 and a serving 1.5 hours prior to working out. If still concerned introduce them slowly-perhaps just for breakfast and see how your body responds. Beware of lowering your calories too much too quick, this has killed me everytime. Be positive, if you think the carbs are making you fat then they are, if you believe that they are providing you with great energy and helping you build muscle then they are-the mind is powerful in this regard.
