im 10 weeks out right now and have a question about food choices. my final meal of the day on the bev diet consists of 10oz of either lean beef, chicken, fish and two cups of veggies. i LOVE beef and wish i could eat it all the time, but i guess i feel alittle guilty eating it because i enjoy it so much. i feel as though if i am gettin ready for a show that i need to make myself suffer just alittle bit more. im also in alittle bit of a diet slump, havent seen many changes lately in the way of fat loss (however my muscles are feeling fuller since uping the protein in the bev diet). so currently im eating 16oz of beef per day (6oz. with breakfeast too). so my question is that if i were to substitute the chicken for the beef for my last meal, would fat loss be kicked up a notch?
Bendel, the key to remember is calories are the killer in weight loss. Beef in general is a more calorie dense meat due to higher fat content but there are good options. I am 2 weeks out from my contest and still eat red meat whenever I want.....as long as I stay within my calorie limit. I too find beef more exciting to eat so I stock up on cheap steaks and 97% lean ground beef.
I would use beef because it alows you to enjoy your diet as long as you calories are in check. If you enjoy the diet, it means your less likely to cheat and your progress will be better. Later, Pup
