I'm a huge fan of performing a floor press w/ db's (neutral grip) or bb (close grip). When you perform this movement, try to emphasize lowering the weight towards your sternum and then push the bar or db's back toward your head (natural arching plane of motion). I like this movement because it removes the stretch reflex at the bottom which causes you to recruit more muscle fibers...plus my shoulder health is becoming questionable so the partial range allows me to maximize development while preserving what ROM I have left in the joint. Final food for thought...by utilizing a neutral grip or close grip, you place more emphasis on the upper portion of your pec which in my opinion is more important than the angle your training through. Found one of your passports to Sumatra, I missed you by about a week at Fiji. But, I knew you wouldn't miss the fifty year storm, Bodhi." -Johnny Utah | |||
