Ihave been reading some things on cardio and one is to do cardio first thing a.m.. I do but my question is as I have been told on an empty stomach but have been told I should intake some branch chain aminos prior. I use MP but not prior for concern of getting sick. I also want to avoid going catabolic.ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE. Bill
Not sure that cardio on an empty stomach is necessary. I think there are just as many for as there are against doing it this way. Bottom line if you need to do it three times per week, do it.
If in the morning try a few scoops of Glutamine Select in water. You could do this in your water bottle and drink it through out the cardio session.
MP in 8 oz of water may not make you sick, have you tried it? If not give it a shot.
B.P. I would suggest like ETX stated, Glutamine Select or some BCAA's, or some GH Factor and some thermos would be, and is my choice. I have been doing cardio like that for years and I'm convinced it is the best way to burn fat, early AM is the time when you can go right to burning fat and also set the pace for fatburning all day long. Just make sure your throwing something in there to preserve the hard earned muscle.
I have to disagree with the reply's concerning Cardio. Cardio requires 10 steady state hours to burn 1 lb of fat - so, as you can see, it's not the best way to burn fat. However, there are better ways.....
Hey Rainer what was that all about 1lb. of fat in an hour , like thats my intention. As far as your question of adding Glutamine Select pre cardio, I suppose it wouldn't hurt, but I don't think its really needed, the amino profile of the GH would preserve muscle while burning fat. Maybe you could take it post cardio that might be a wiser choice.
L.wagner, all those things you take before cardio what kind of success have you had? I am doing 7keto and leanout now and started to shed some weight just recently. good luck Bill
I for one hate cardio that early in the morning, I save my Cardio for the afternoon hours and my weight training for early evening! Works for me I guess! I can't see waking up and doing Cardio 15 minutes after waking. You are more eager to hurt yourself than anything else! Could be wrong, I am new at this! Love all the input though!

MJ.. I, too, hate early a.m. cardio - but for contest prep it's a MUST for me to shred down to the lower bodyfat % needed. As Linda stated, the addition of LO/ER/GH and/or 7-Keto cuts into the fat and helps retain muscle. Off season - I avoid a.m. on empty stomach unless I'm doing my recreational outside run for fun!
I've often struggled with the Bill Philips idea of doing cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. At first glance it appears sound however when you look into the Krebs cycle and our own "metabolic mill" you discover that fat burns in a carbohydrates flame. As we all know CHO/ glycogen levels are normally lowest first thing in the morning. I think that glutamine select would be a good pre-cardio supplement as our bodies will pull valine, isoleucine, and especially leucine as a fuel source during high stress periods. I used to swear by hours of cardio to prepare for shows, since Beverly I now have cut my cardio down to about 3-4 hours a week pre-contest. Hopefully I will be able to cut it even more and be able to control my bodyfat levels more with diet. I have always struggled with bodyfat and have just now gotten it under control. Sometimes it's not how much muscle you gain but how much you don't lose precontest. Train hard.
