dropping muscle mass

I'm a female bb and attempting to go the fitness route.

My question is this: what's the best way to drop muscle mass? I don't want to stop doing weights but I know I do need to cut down on them. I gain muscle easily. I'm imagining I need to do more cardio, but not sure how much. Currently run about 20 min, 3-4x/wk. And what about my diet? I follow Beverly's diets.

Thanks for any comments and suggestions.

Big Grin.. LOL.. when you drop some of that mass.. will you throw it my way!! I'm sure that Rachel or Tammy Storch will have comments as they both are doing figure. Tammy dropped 15-20 lbs. (I think) to compete in Figure. Here is some of what Tammy advised to do "As i put on 10-12lbs of muscle last year i am having to literally starve and cardio myself to death to have a more figure like physique. My traps were too big and back too wide, also legs too big up top from deep squatting, etc. (squatter's butt is always a problem too - LOL). As i said i lost 15lbs already and have to lose about 10lbs of fat. As we all know, it can be done! My training schedule is now 4 days instead of 5 (arms no longer trained alone). No more squatting or deadlifting, lots of lunging (forever lunging...uggghhh), leg ext., plyo's, cardio..cardio... I still personally want a very muscular physique and we'll see where that gets me." Hope this helps for how she dropped some muscle! Val

I concur. I dropped some muscle in the last few months. Not that I wanted to, but do to an injury i have over the last three months had to initially reduce the heavy weights, then actually take a few full weeks off lifting, but did lots of leg circuit training. (I am just getting back to three full body work outs a week now doing static training to try to add back some I lost.) I did lots of cardio during that time too. So I would bet this type of plan would work for someone who WANTED to drop muscle. Weight train in a fast paced circuit fashion and cardio till you drop!!

Hey thanks for the comments.

A couple things: do you guys know of any place to find a sample workout? I've been lifting big and heavy for so long, I'm not sure where to begin? And, do I need to make any changes with my diet? I have the typical Bev diet with starch in the am and at lunch, veggies and pro for dinner, MP shakes for in between.

Thanks for the comments. I appreciate it! I think I'll post over on the Fitness forum too.

PS: Brochas - I'll send whatever I strip off up to you!
