Woo hoo!!! another local guy, that's 2 in a week. Sorry, I've been one of the only people from the Philly area on this board for a long time. To your question, I have a couple of my own, your bodytype training styles you've tried. Actaully check out this thread, only a few down.

Any more questions after that fire away.

Some Olympic lifters have done legs six days a week. I wonder if it is possible to overtrain Wink.

Training is a funny science. What works for the general public may not apply to you or me.

This one guy at the gym does arms every 36 hours. He's a natural and arms are HUGE! He's just a big guy! If I did arms every 3 days, they would waste away.

Hey bud, I've been training for three years and just really started to work my legs about 7 months ago. I never really liked squats but liked the leg press a lot. I started off with 4 45lb plates on each side and increased every week, I'm at 9 45lb plates on each side now and doing 4 sets of 8-10or so, also doing leg extensions and curls as well, I've got some great gains from this. Something maybe to think about. Good luck

also I do them usually once a week, sometimes twice depending on how they feel.

Nothing like hitting the Squat, the king of all exercises along with the deadlifts! The leg press does not even come close to what can really happen to your body when done regularly! Get to squatting! You really want to make gains, MUST SQUAT!

"...MUST SQUAT!"

Craig, that is a fact that is coming around. We did it just because we accepted the training. It's been known for years and years. It was found on the wall of a cave in ancient Mesopotamia written in ancient Hebrew.

Seriously, if you want beef, you gotta start from the ground up. LEGS!

as for those gh releasing moments, I like to incorporate the heavy clean and press on shoulder day...... just a way to get a little more LEG mass into the week.

what about close stance squats with feet only a couple inches apart? ? it gives me a great sweep on the lateral area of the quad. just make sure that your gastocnemius and soleus are flexible enough to allow that motion without injuring yourself. you really need that achilles tendon.....

The knees are very vulnerable in a closed stance position so be careful with that one, I would not do it personally. Near or at least shoulder width position for the feet!

I have had great success with the old 20 rep breathing squat. I only do one set weekly and I only add 1.25 pounds to the bar each week, using Plate Mates. It is incredibly grueling but rewarding. Brief, intense and productive.

I train legs twice a week. Calves 3 times.
The only thing I do for quads is SQUAT! Its a compound exercise with so many other great benefits. I combine heavy and light reps both and go to failure in a cage.
Peace Out....
