I will be adding some BCAA's and more glutamine into my regiman soon (most likely GS) and I was wondering how this contributes to overall caloric intake. I realize that they dont form a complete protein but they still have some caloric value am I correct?
Looks like you’ve done some research on your own and probably got conflicting answers. It is very counterproductive to get too technical on this subject.
Chemically speaking BCAAs might yield up to 4 cal per gram. But real world speaking, anyone who has successfully used this method of supplementation does not count the calories from Muscle Mass, Density or GH Factor. Even if you consume mega doses of BCAAs during training for example your calories deficit from what your burning by training hard will still be significant.
If you think in terms of the extra weight or volume BCAAs would help you lift (which will enhance calorie burn), you could even consider them negative calories. Steven
Yes I have been doing a bunch of research on them and glutamine as they are a very important part of my contest prep at least imo. thanks for the info that clears things up ALOT!
