I gotta tell you that sometimes I read something that I already knew and it blows me away all over again. Like the reconfirmation I get every time I see an analysis of Muscle Provider...I immediately buy a case.
I was just reviewing some of the information about Mass Aminos and I was overjoyed with comfort and excitement about Mass but sickened to my stomach about the industry as a whole. Mass comes from Casein Hydrolysate and is what you call a Peptide Bonded Amino. Now to be considered a true Hydrolysate an amino acid tablet must have a nitrogen rating of at least 10% (that's the bare bones minimum). In a recent study 25 brands of Peptide Bonded or Hydrolysate Amino Acid tablets were tested. These are the same brands you see hyped in every Magazine on the market. It may shock you to know that the industry average is a pitiful 7%. On the other hand it will delight you to know that Mass Aminos scored 49.6% - yea, 7 times the industry average. The next closest one was 30% and the next best after that was somewhere around 15%. You should also know that Mass Aminos contain around 51% Hyrdolysate material which is the maximum amount possible before the product would liquify. This is why Mass aminos stink, and taste horrible. In fact we're told that the lab has to "air the place out" after making every batch because the hydrolysate and nitrogen levels are so high that it makes the whole place smell horrible!
Now the reason I am posting this is because I want to hear some feedback on how different people use Mass Aminos. We most often use Mass with meals because of the Limiting Amino Factor which in a nutshell is this: Any protein source you eat (beef, chicken, eggs, fish, etc.) will have strong areas in it's amino profile, and it will have weak areas. These weak areas are what keeps you from utilizing all of your protein - and I know everybody seems to be concerned about this. So Mass (remember it's predigested) acts like pieces of a puzzle and fills in all the gaps.
So back to my point, I want to hear feedback and ideas on different ways people use Mass. There's really no wrong way to take it and I'm curious for new thoughts and/or theories.

I take them during training, one for every ten lbs of body weight. Take two between every other set. Helps retain/build muscle by adding the BCCA's in to your digestive system while your body is in the process of breaking down muscle and using muscle glycogen during exercise. Or so the theory goes.

At this point I only take it with meals. I was thinking of taking them during workouts as a less expensive alternative to say Muscle Mass or Muscularity.

I have been taken ten right before and ten right after a workout as well as with each meal. I feel the Mass aminos are one of the best bangs for the buck of any supplement, period.

I take them with every meal.

I also take them during training - right now at 190 lbs I take 30 of them. I find that my training has gone to a new level since I began doing this ... and attribute this to a major part of why I am up from 178 pounds without gaining body fat.

I also take them when I wake up in the middle of the night (3 gallons of water takes awhile to clear out).

PS I should elaborate, when I take my mass aminos during training, I do it based on sets, not time. So if I am doing, say, 12 sets total, I will take about 3 between each set until I run out.

Jeremy...Are you close to contest? If not, just curious why you drink 3 gals of water?

Dwayne,

No, not close to contest. I just drink as I am thirsty and that is constantly throughout the day. Between a few cups of coffee then steady water, water in shakes, etc, it works out consistently between 2 - 3 gallons. Again, it is not me forcing myself to drink, I don't see the "need to" drink so much, but it is how I naturally flow. I have a 16oz shaker cup that I consistently refill and I am thirsty all day long.

Plus, I am a big fan of Will Brink's recommendation to hydrate yourself enough to have two or three clear urinations per day ... which I hit after about 2 gallons.

Jeremy - We're going to have to change your board name to "Camel Man".
