I'm training for my first figure contest and I have been reading from a lot of sources that strongly suggest taking a supplement to boost metabolism. I am apprehensive about taking something that will effect my metabolism because of potential health risks and because of post contest weight gain when the supplements are D/C'd. Do you have any suggestions on the safest supplements to take that will help me to loose fat and become more lean? Thank you!

These supplements that you are talking about are just stimulants! You can get the same benefit from a few cups of coffee. Don't be worried about boosting metabolism because most of these product will NOT boost your metabolism! The only thing that will do that is dietary caloric intake and obviously, weight training workouts!

Now, if you want a product that will help transport fatty acids for energy useage and NOT a stimulant based product. Go with LEAN OUT! 2 caps with every meal (depending on your size and diet) and that will help you on your way.

Don't bank on "supplements" to help you to lose fat. That is ALL IN THE DIET! Post your diet for further help flhealth.

Thanks for your response Vijay! Here is some more info about myself:
Contest: 3 months out
Size: 5'2, 115 lbs
Diet: Cals: 1300-1500, Pro: 100g, CHO: 200g, Fiber: 35g, Fat: 20-30g
Here is a sample of what I eat in a typical day:
7am: whole wheat english muffin, 3 egg whites, 1 slice provolone, 1 c. soy milk
10am: 1 c. lowfat yogurt
1pm: banana (or mixed fruit), 1 c steam broccoli, 1 c. kidney beans (or some other type of beans)
4pm: 1/2 c. oatmeal w/raisins
7pm: salad w/plain tuna and nuts, and 1 c. sweet potato
Before workouts: green tea supplement w/meal
After workouts: 1 scoop protein powder, 1 tsp glutamine, (i usually blend with water and 1TBspn lowfat peanut butter)
I've read up on a lot of diets and honestly I'm not sure I can eat as much meat as people do! My protein sources are usually tuna, shrimp, fish, peanut butter, beans, and protein powder.
I really appreciate your help, thank you!!

I'm sure Chunky will write a sample diet for you, but I do know for a fact that at 12 wks out from the show you must get rid of the fruit, cheese and wheat products. You won't get lean enought eating those.
