Does any one take small dosages of Niacin during their workouts?

Wow. It is too bad we can't go back to the old board. There was some interesting discussions on niacin.

I don't know of anyone using niacin for preworkout. There's enough in the Super-Pak, but to add, wow.

Have you tried it?

Niacin is good, but there are some consequences in overloading. 50mg before your workout, I would say would be fine, but more than that may have some long term bad side effects.

Hey Frank,

I know that too much niacin flushes the skin and causes redness. I did take it once before which left me red and tight. IT was great when I took professional pictures. Brought out my vascularity. But I also heard that taken before a workout will increase help burn more calories.

Again, could be a big gym rumor.

Good thread on this from the 'old' board. I was a very naive and uneducated when I decided to take a 250mg dose of niacin 3 days before a contest to 'see' how I reacted to it. Well, I ended up in the ER with an extreme reaction to the dosage! Flushed is not the word for it.. I had welts all over my body and was swollen and burning everywhere! I felt like my ears were going to explode and my skin burned. Yeah.. I learned a valuable lesson.. being only 105 lbs. at the time.. WAY too large a dosage. Also, I have heard that if you use for a contest - the swollen look may blurr definition. I've not taken any since my 'episode'. But I know my former workout partner took it prior to each workout. Good luck Steve!

I'm not using Synergy right now, but if I remember correctly, I think there was some in that as well (at least the old formula). Not sure what the new one will contain. If you're using Synergy, that may be enough.

The new synergy contains the same amount of niacin as the old formula. EVERYONE- read the labels carefully. The serving size for the old synergy was only 8 tabs. The serving size for the new formula is 16 tabs. I was confused for a few moments as i compared the two labels yesterday. I finally figured out what was going on.

The new Synergy has the same potency per tablet of arginine, creatine, hmb, niacin. We've added two new ingredients - L-Tyrosine 1000 mg per 8 tabs or 2000 mg per 16. We have also added the herb Rhodiola Rosea which has a number of benefits - lower cortisol, improve concentration, added strength and lean mass.

The reason that 16 tabs is the serving size is that is a day's recommended dosage (8 twice a day just like the old.)

I am currently 12 weeks out -- I am taking a scoop of creatine select before workouts, 15 muscle mass during, and 1 scoop glutamine select post workout. Would I see any benefits to switching to Synergy?

TIA,
Vanessa
