Hey all, my wife is with child and wondering about continued use of creatine and lean out.

She claims that she sags through cardio workouts without creatine, and wants to eat everything and anything without her lean out.

Any thoughts?

There are some pros and cons with creatine. I really had problems with strained muscles, especially in the legs. That would only occur during a fast run or sprint. It would only occur with I added it. I was well hydrated and warmed up.

One of the issues in research was the body maintained a higher temperature. In other words, even sweating, you couldn't cool off enough (probably a summertime issue).

Lean Out? It's a fat mobilizer. If she's looking to lose, she should take them and use plenty of water.

But, this topic is under "Pregnancy". I would suggest not to use either.

I would stop the creatine immediately. That is not helping her circulatory system at all, not to mention that I sure the baby isn't doing any anaerobic activity in the whomb!

That being said, Lean Out is a fantastic Idea! Lean Out has L-Carnitine, Chromium Picolinate, Vit B12 and Biotin. All of these "co-factors" will help shuttle food correctly to both the mother and the baby, control the release of insulin from the pancreas, and in turn, will help keep gestational diabetes at bay. There is really nothing harmful in Lean Out and no real reason to get off of it even through pregnancy.

That being said, I am sure your pediatrition or OBGYN will tell your wife to stop everything, don't take supplements, don't go to the gym, and eat whatever you feel like.... not the greatest advise, but unfortunetly is status quo in the medical community. Good luck to you and your wife and Congrats!!

CB,

Fitdoc always would suggest not to take supplements. Going to the gym, eat whatever? LOL That varies from doctor to doctor, midwife to midwife, neighbor to neighbor.

What has been common is the doctors that take into consideration what was being done prior to pregnancy. In other words, don't start a lifting program afterward if there never was a program to begin. That pretty much applies to just about everything.
Eating healthy and as natural as possible without taking all the processed food preservatives, etc.

Yes, the ole, "You are what you eat," applies to Mother and unborn child.

As for the Lean Out, I agree there's nothing harmful but, I'm 5:50 on it. I fall into that category if it was already in use, it would be useful. Otherwise, the prenatal vitamins, natural oils should be considered and just a question to the doctor and perhaps a second opinion from a hospital nutritionist. I don't know if there's a similar product OTC and if so, Lean Out fits right in.

First, Congrats and I
wish your wife the best of health and happiness.

my 2 cent:

Would take the Bottles of Beverly Products
to her Dr. and let her/him know what she
has been taking (in the past). Then wants to continue...

Beverly Products are clearly labeled with each ingredient.

Either way it's up to her and the Dr.'s
decision what to do.

Would also, go into the Dr.'s office
well informed with type of exercise/diet/supplement
program desired. Maybe, try this for a starter:

The FDA says the supplements are food so
would think they are safe. As Frank posted:
"That varies from doctor to doctor, midwife to midwife, neighbor to neighbor."

Having a baby is team work, and as long as everyone is on the same page is the best plan.

Congrats on a baby on board. That is awesome.

No, if your wife is pregnant she should take her pre natal vitamin and some protein powder and hold off on all else until after she gives birth and stops nursing is she chooses to nurse. If she has any questions about what is acceptable to take she should consult her OB.
