I have been lifting for 6 weeks with a personal trainer. I do cardio at least 30 min./ 5 days a week. I have not lost any scale weight Frown but around 2% BF. My clothes fit a little looser in the legs and butt, not enough to drop a size yet. I take no supplements because I don't have a clue what I should use.I do occassionally take fish oil and a multivitamin. I'm too old to compete, but I'd like to train as if I could. I also have a meal plan that I am happy with. Can you suggest anything...and what are BCAA's?

HA! I stepped on stage for the first time at age 44! Now, I'm ready to try it again, 6 years later.

As for recommendations, what are your goals? Losing? Gaining?

Before answering those questions, here's your basic:

Select one of three Protein powders US, UMP or MP
Ultra 40's
GH Factor

Those are the three I would recommend for either gain or lose.

I am 54. My BF% is 44%. My weight is 172. My goal is to get to at least 25% BF and to lose about 35 lbs. What's the difference between the MP and the UMP?

Hi Mary Ann,

Dropping 2% BF without dropping scale weight is a good sign! This means you gained metabolically active lean mass (muscle) while dropping a significant amount of fat. Gaining muscle will make it easier to continue losing fat in the long run, as well as giving you a tighter and more toned look when you reach your goal BF%.

Since you are unfamiliar with supplements, it’s best to start simply. Here is a supplement program I suggest for my beginning clients:

PRIORITY CHOICES:
Vitamins/Minerals:
Ultra 4 – 2 tablets 2 times a day (with meals)
General Lean Mass Support and Training Recovery:
Glutamine Select – 2 scoops mixed in water and sipped on throughout training
· You can also sip on it between meals, as needed, to help stabilize energy and appetite. Helps cut down cravings.
Fat Loss:
Lean Out – 2 capsules before each meal
· You can cycle this 2 weeks on and 1 week off for budget purposes as well as maintaining maximum effectiveness if taking for longer than 8 weeks.
AND / OR: 7-Keto MuscLean – 3 capsules 2 times a day (contains caffeine - start with less and work up as tolerated)
· Lean Out and 7-Keto work best when used together. If only using one, then either choice would be great.
Essential Fatty Acids: EFA Gold – 3 to 6 capsules daily
· Essential fatty acids are not only good for your health but also help support metabolism for better fat burning effect.

TO OPTIMIZE YOUR PROGRAM (or if you hit a plateau) – ADD:
Lean Mass Support:
Muscularity BCAA compound – 2 to 3 capsules with each meal.
Additional Fat Loss:
GH Factor – 6 capsules before bed and 6 upon arising (on empty stomach)

Full information on all of the products suggested, as well as on the BCAA’S, is provided in Beverly’s on-line catalog (link - http://www.beverlyinternational.com).

Best wishes,
Rita

Thanks for the information on supplements. I was getting disappointed with not losing scale weight, but after reading your reply, I think I'm headed in the right direction. I guess it's normal to want to see results immediately. Thanks again, I'll put my order in. Oh, what are BCAA's?

Mary ann, I know this is an older post but Im glad to have read it.
I too am older, female and wanting to get a handle on overall body fat.
I weight train and do cardio reguarly. I may never compete, but I dream of looking toned and healthy like the younger girls.
At least I know decreasing my overall body fat is a healthy goal.
Keep it up and let me know how your doing.
Lynda
