I'm 66 years old,5'11",178lbs attempting to gain muscle and lose fat---get leaner! Through my version of the Weight Watchers diet and exercise(lifting and running)I've lost 15 lbs since last June. Recently,I've started a more intense workout program-both weight and cardio exercises which are targeting all my muscles including core.
I would now like to lose up to 8 more lbs(get leaner) and add more tone to my muscles. I'm interested in using supplements and I have read the information on Beverly's website for Muscle Provider,Ultimate Muscle Protein, and Glutamine Select. My question is which of the protein supplements is best for me? Should I also do the Glutamine Select and how do I coordinate it's useage with either MP or UMP? - ms

Mike,
Either protein would be excellent for you. If you want to take just one form of protein that meets all your needs, Ultimate Muscle Protein is it. Studies have shown that it has the best of both protein worlds. About 20% is rapidly absorbed whey protein isolate to meet your immediate protein needs, while the remaining 80% is micellar casein absorbed over time giving you a sustained release effect that keeps your body in a positive nitrogen balance. (A positive nitrogen balance is the state where your body makes muscle versus a negative nitrogen balance where your body is tearing down muscle tissue to meet its energy needs.) You can read more about the difference between the proteins and which one is right for you here http://www.bodybuildingworld.c..._3/best_protein.html.
Glutamine select can be used before, during or after training (my preference is during), as well as any time during the day. Aside from Glutamine's recovery, immune, and digestive benefits, it also aids in driving protein synthesis and helps to increase your metabolic rate. Not to mention the all the benefits of the BCAA's. Number one being the aid in retaining lean muscle while losing fat.
