Can't speak for Beverly, but Casein is a milk protein that takes longer to digest.. I use a 50/50 mix of whey and Casein in my shakes and I stay full for alot longer than whey alone. It's great for pre-bed meals to keep a steady supply of nutrients maintained.

If you buy into the fact that a human digestive system is meant to digest human proteins, then you would want a 60/40 or 50/50 whey/casein mix as human milk is that mixture. Cow milk is about 20/80; be careful about the protein mix you're buying and the mammal it would be best used for!

As the previous poster recommends, casein-heavy proteins would be best at night when your insulin levels are naturally higher and cleaning out the blood stream.

It's interesting that you bring that up. Ultra Size has Milk Protein Isolate (casein and whey isolates) and Whey Concentrate in the same ratio as mother's milk.

hmmm... things have gotten off track since the original question. That being "Muscle Provider and why Casein is in it?" The difference is that Casein is only included in the CHOCOLATE flavored Muscle Provider probably to give it a better consistancy and a more "chocolate-ee" flavor. If you look on the Vanilla Muscle Provider label, there is NO Casein in the matrix. Either one is a great protein and to be honest, I don't think there is a HUGE amount of Casein in the Muscle Provider Chocolate. Just enough to give it a better consistancy. Figure about 2-3 grams per scoop max.

You absolutely CAN'T go wrong with any Beverly Protien Powder!!
