I am interested in adding in Beverly's Antioxidant product to my supplement regimen. Directions say to take post workout....which makes sense.

I did a little reading and have found that many people/studies have shown that post workout is not the time to take it b/c they inhibit a pathway (COX-2 pathway ??)that can be beneficial for muscle growth.

I would really like to hear how you guys here take this product. thanks!!

I am not familiar with the "COX-2 pathway"?? Actually, I've never even heard of such an animal... anyways, somethings that I've read about specific antioxidant formulas suggest that the better times to take it would be post-workout, OR, DURING the workout period. EIther way the whole idea is to minimize excessive muscle cell damage from "free-radical" build up or damage from fatigue toxins.

Personally, I would look further into what the "COX-2" pathway really means in terms of muscle breakdown and muscular healing time. But I can't see taking anti-oxidants post workout to harm anything?? Afterall, vitamin C is technically an Anti-oxidant as well, but it is highly recommended throughout the day including post workout!

ooooh, cyclooxygenase-2.... i can see where you would be concerned. COX-2 is nothing but an enzyme that helps in the anti-inflamitory stages of muscular healing. It is concentrated in the muscle cells at a much lower concentration than COX-1....

Anyways, you can inhibit COX-2 with the interference from anti-oxidants, but that is not a bad thing?! Cyclooxygenase WILL control inflamtion, IF injury is present, Anti-oxidants encourage, or help guide the proper inflammitory response while at the same time reduce or neutralize fatigue toxins. In the end, it is a win-win situation.

The answer to your question is obviously way more in depth than my answer for it, but it is basic and bare bones. Hope this helps?

Yep, Chunky, I do 1000mg of Vitamin C pre and post workout for that very reason. I also read it helps with oxidation of fat. But, I know its a good anti A.
