instead of making your complaints maybe you should be doing something to better the sport.
Amen to that. My wife and I promote 2 OCB shows per year and offered to cross promote with Kakos from the ABA. In doing so he would have been allowed to post fliers up in 25 fitness facilities in Indiana/Dayton/Cincinatti/Clevland/Columbus. In exchange we would post some fliers for our shows at their Indiana event (Which had less than 17 athletes total last year. They stated that they do not need the additional help in promoting their shows. Ask them what THEY are doing to better the sport. The NPC, OCB and NANBF treat their athletes with dignity and respect and would not dream of using make shift lighting, not having a sound system, and not playing competitors CD's that they put time and effort into preparing. They are in it for the money not the athletes and their actions prove it. Perhaps the Kentucky show will have different promoters. I hope so for any athlete who has busted their hump and has family driving to see them from out of state. My wife and I volunteer as judges for several organizations driving as far as Flint Michigan. I love Natural Bodybuuilding and want it to be represnted properly. Shows like that discourage competitors... |

I appreciate and understand what you say.
I just try and look for the silver lining in everything and am giving them the benefit of the doubt. The organizations that you mention are first class organizations. As mentioned if the INBA has a sincere interest in becoming better then as you do for the mentioned organizations I will do the same for them. If their attitude is as you say it is then I probably will have a similar reaction. I was just very surprised by your post because the show I saw the INBA put on in Indiana was small but a very good and fun show to attend! Good luck to you!!! |

Jeremiah,
I appreciate your reply and completely agree. I've gone to one Outback Steakhouse and had the best steak in town and then the next week the complete opposite. All in all the ABA probably is a sound organization and my experience was isolated. I kind of felt bad today because I can see how you maybe thought that I was being condescending to you because you're doing one of their shows. Trust me, not the case. I still have old No Nonsense Newsletters with you in them that I read to this day. Good luck and train hard. Hopefully we'll get a chance to meet one day. Best of luck on the 12th |

I appreciate what you wrote. I have looked at your website and I can tell you are just as passionate about bodybuilding as I am.
I wish you all the best also! You know it is funny, when you go to Roger and Sandy's show you get to experience one of the best shows in the entire NPC, on the flip side I have done contests through the NPC that really disappointed me! The INBA has a great contest name in the Natural Olympia, to be honest I have been disappointed by the number of competitors in that contest as the name of the contest should draw excellent natural bodybuilders. The competitors are good, dont get me wrong, I just wish it was better. I hope this is an isolated case but I guess time will only tell. That is what I love about natural bodybuilding, there are so many organizations that if one as a whole doesnt take care of its competitors there will be someone like who will! Jeremiah |

Jeremiah, you said you stood with the best, martinez, alves, etc.., now you are on a smaller realm. What type of training are you doing ie. how many sets per bodypart, how many times per week a bodypart is trained, overall volume since you said you are training for this and you will do it all naturally?

Scott,
Thanks for asking. Yes this is very different than before as I am training 100% naturally and have had 5 years off from any kind of serious training or dieting. 8 weeks ago I was over 10% and doing no bodybuilding training what so ever. I was taking Beverly but it was limited to protein and vitamins. I trained hard core for 8 weeks and cut my bodyfat in half and started to gain back muscle. I started on a heavy dose of UMP, Density, Ultra 40, Synergy and a few others. I came in to the Natural Ohio and took 8th, not good for what I am capable of but not bad for where I was 8 weeks ago. Point blank at the Natural Ohio I was not in condition, did not have enough muscle or good enough stamina to pose. I would say right now I have an equal desire and passion to succeed as I did when I did Nationals in 2000. Its just different now because I have a large family (our 3rd child this summer) and bodybuilding is pretty low on the priority list nowadays! With saying all of that my desire is just as high, I train just as hard, eat just as clean and take as many supplements as before, it just isnt what defines me anymore if that makes sense! To answer your question I still do about the same supplements and am trying something new for nutrition and training. I could tell you now but I have a feeling that when summer rolls around and go from out of shape and small to big and ripped once again that many more people will want to listen to what I say then! Stay tuned, I plan to let the secret loose as soon as the results as shown in me! PS - On another front I had the sincere honor of getting to meet The Shark (Jesse) back stage at the Natural Ohio. Not only was he just one of the nicest and positive people I have met but he looked awesome on stage. He took the middleweight class in a very very tough show, congratulations Jesse! I know Sean and Kevin were going to come watch me compete this weekend but I have decided not too. I am back to the drawing board, right back on my diet and ready to make huge changes for the summer! |
