Hey my name is Matt i am 17 and weigh 160lbs at 6'. I play football and am trying to gain weight but it is very hard because my metabolism is extremely fast. I hit the weights hard everyday of the week and still have seen no gains in weight. I have been eating some good meals like fish, chicken, pasta, etc. I have only been eating 3 basic meals a day though and i know most recommend 5 or more. I just don't know what to eat and when to eat it. I lift from about 4-6pm each day. I take UMP, anavol creatine and mass maker, and eat a gnc pro-crunch bar in the afternoon. I would like to know a meal plan and the amount of grams I need each day of proteins and carbs. Also any other suggested supplements. Thanks for the help

Hi Matt and welcome to the board. A good way to gain lean body mass without gaining body fat is to set your total calories at about 500 a day over what your maintenance level is. To figure out what that is (the amount of calories you eat and essentially stay at the same weight, don't gain, don't lose weight)you need to log everything that you eat for a week or so and then do the math to find out how many calories you ate and the macronutrient break down. You will need to estimate quantity to do this.

Eating 5 or 6 smaller but nutritionally balanced meals a day will be an important factor for you. It allows your body to utilize it's food energy in the most efficient manner. You may want to cut back on your training to 3 or 4 days a week. If you are over training it will cause you to burn up muscle as energy, so you end up working against your goal of gaining more muscle mass.

Do a search on this site for mass gain diets and also look at the main BI web site where they have a ton of articles posted on-line. You will find many examples of mass gaining diets that could work for you. Good luck in meeting your goals.
