I am trying to drop 25 pounds. I have hypoglycemia and require more protein than carbs. I will be eating at least 6 meals. I am trying to develop a diet that is easy to follow with simple preparation. I am limited on buying supplements at this time. Can anyone help?

I am not sure if no responses mean people don't know or don't want to help?

JR,
Not enough info bro. The severity of your condition is unknown. Basically a high protein, moderate carb, moderate fat diet is easy to do. This will probably fall into the 50-20-30 macronutrient ratio. A very common Beverly type diet. Food prep (lean meats, protein powder, egg whites, green veggies) is very easy once you get everything assembled, including air tight containers, shaker bottles, tupperware, etc. My suggestion would be to call Beverly or to log onto the main page and fill out the "Client Profile". Beverly will then get back to you with a personal diet plan. As far as supps, you can always go without them and use whole foods. When you are ready, you can then add them into the mix. Post your height/weight est. body fat and what you are currently doing in regard to diet (in detail).
Some of us can get an idea and tweak it a bit. Look for an old guide called the "August Diet". Do a search on the Bev Board or on Beverly. That's a good diet for a basic lean gain. Drop fat, increase muscle. Also, Big A is someone that can really help out. I've been out of pocket for a while and I'm going to be away from the net as well. Also note, it is the Holiday season and not too many have been on the boards posting. It's the offseason, too. Frank Frank "Lift and be happy. Lift harder and be excited...Get Excited, Get Big!!!" |

Ok, let me try again. I've lost 3 posts on this topic. They just disappeared, one while writing to this. I guess I pressed a key and everything disappeared.
Anyway... If you're looking to lose some fat, you need to steer clear of some of these foods, in my opinion. I don't know your workout plan or schedule but if you're working out, it will be a big addition to fatloss. For now, eliminate wheat and wheat byproducts along with fast food. If you can afford fast food, you can remove it and purchase a protein powder to have 2 shakes each day. Your meal schedule should look like this: 1. 8 eggwhites 1 whole egg, 1/2 cup of oatmeal or 1 grapefruit 2. Shake 3. 1 can of tuna w/salad and low cal dressing 4. 7 oz chicken or turkey 1 serving of fruit, either apple, 6 strawberries or cherries 5. Shake 6. 8 oz beef 1/2 cup of cooked brown rice and small salad with 2 tbs Newman's oil and vinegar. Sub rice with 4 oz of sweet potato. Try that for a couple of weeks. Just so I understand....there are NO free/cheat meals allowed during the 4 weeks.....am I right?? JR |

If you can make it 4 weeks. The longer you're on a strict diet, the easier it will be to follow it and do cheats. If you're going to wait for 2 weeks then do a cheat, it will lead to another and another. The "accidental" is inevitable. It may happen at 2-4 AM.
The best thing to do is go at it full force and with the mindset that's it and there's not anything else. If you go at it for half-a$$ed mentality, you're sure to not succeed. Frank |

I agree with Frank. Unless you've been eating clean for a lengthy period of time, a cheat meal or cheat day will have no benefits whatsoever.
Another "positive" from a clean diet is you will lose cravings that usually sabotage a good functional eating strategy. I would begin with Frank's nutritional plan. You'll feel and look 100% better, and there's a good chance stress, migraines, hypoglycemia will be substantially alleviated. A Aram N. Hamparian NBI, USBF Pro Natural |

The diet I've drawn up is only going to be good for 2 weeks. One of the changes after that is going to be adding fat to the shakes. Do not use milk at this time. Use water. Most of the Bev plans have fruit added to the shakes. I'm skipping that at this time. What kind of workout/cardio are you doing? Frank |

Big A, what do you think? I think the workout is fine. Cardio can be done simply by walking on an incline at 3.7-4.2 mph.
No junk. If you need to dine out, grab you one of those whole cooked chickens, no bread at all. Remove the skin and eat plenty of veggies/fruit. Shakes are portable. Mix like a paste when you're ready if you don't have a blender. Tuna is always good and cheap. Salsa, any spice to make the change up. I like a hot and spicy mix. Smoked turkey slices from the deli is also a good choice. If you need to, take along a small cooler and replenish the food daily. Frank |

It's going to be way more convenient (and cost effective) to get some Ultra Size and put 2 or 3 scoops into shaker bottles as you travel. When it's time for a meal, just add water. It's also going to be healthier than the fast junk foods.
Always rely on the diet to burn fat, rather than cardio. Cardio can always be added in small increments, if needed. I never do cardio, nor do I use ephedra, yet I am a competitor. The diet is the key. Even if you incorporate small changes to your diet, it is going to elicit a very positive impact toward your goals. Franks diet is a terrific start, but if you cannot get into it 100%, that is fine. Making small improvements day to day, week to week, will add up tremendously. Aram N. Thanks for the insight....I am looking to 1/2/06 to start Franks diet as written. I still believe I should tweak the lifting a bit to make it a shorter more effective workout.....any ideas?? |
