Eating at Night

I eat my normal meals, my protein shake after workouts, but I get hungry at night. I work out 4-5 times a week and I was wondering, is it ok to eat at night if your hungry? I'm trying to gain lean muscle mass and stay lean and cut. Would eating at night be bad if I want to stay lean and gain lean muscle mass?

You want to stick to protein, and a bit of good fat, like a scoop of slow burning protein like Casien, for example. When I get close to a show, and start really hurting at night, I will mix a bit of protein pudding consisting of a Tbsp. of Natural P-Nut Butter, and scoop of UMP. It stablizes your insulin levels and will keep you in Protein synthasis throughout the night. And tastes AWSOME !!

Norris,
Bob has some great advice. It is a common misconception that eating before bed or after a certain time is bad. This is only true when you are eating bad foods. A bowl of ice cream or cheeseburger is ill advised, but a high protein, low carb quality meal like a UMP shake or pudding, egg white w/ veggies omelet, or any other lean protein source is great for building muscle and keeping your body in an anabolic state as you sleep.

CR is right on. I eat anything from 6-8 egg whites with 2 tablespoons of almond butter or natty peanut butter. I also eat 14-20 almonds depending on the day. Don't forget your carb up meal every 3-4 days. After saying this I guess I should let you know my weight is 170lbs and I stand 5'10". So if you weigh more you would have to change this.

One of the things suggested in The Zone Diet is to have a small snack before bedtime. When I do this diet-while not a fan of protein bars-I would have half a Protein Bar. I'd then eat the other half when I woke up halfway through my sleep. I haven't been doing that since the Bev Plan, though.
