Hey good poll!

One day will not kill you. Im going to have a huge dinner. Im not into stuffing though and will go light on the mashed potatoes. But if I want cookies, cake, pie and milk Im there. Take the day off and hit it hard on Friday.

Me personally I am going to stay fairly strict over the holidays. I had been letting myself cheat a little too much over summer and am just now getting myself back into a good diet routine. I hate to break it even if for one day. I guess thats what I get for doing the extra drinking and eating over the summer !! Everyone else... ENJOY !! I will have my turkey breast and sweet potato then run away from the table Big Grin

I would never convince someone to cheat on their diet plan if that is not what they had planned. But, I think this one day will not hurt, but for you Shorty, maybe dont overindulge, but a small piece of pie wont kill you.

What I was going to do was have my morning oats with my eggs and MP. Go train, not use MM in my post workout just MP. And for lunch skip the other oatmeal or yam carb choice and just go tuna and salad. That way in the end, Ill probably end up at the same carb count, albeit not all good low glycemic, but that and 4 lean outs before the feast should lessen any fat storage. When I told Jeremiah I had been strict on my diet post contest except for beer on the weekends this is what he suggested I do as far as my meals are concerned on days Id be taking in the extra cals and carbs.

Happy eating all!

Loosen the belt only a wee bit....as in my husband has a sweet tooth so will probably have a piece of each kind of pie/dessert, so I will have to sneak a bite of EACH from him. I'm going to drink a couple glasses of water, take some lean out, and have eat something clean even if it's just a Ultra Size shake, BEFORE I go over to my sister-in-laws for Thanksgiving dinner so I am not over there hungry like a wolf. P.S. do you ever feel like a hobbit? I mean, I am in the breakroom at work, and it never fails if anyone else is in there, they always have to say, "what are you eating there" or "what are you making there" because it's the ump-teenth time I am getting my food from the fridge or making a shake, so I find myself saying, "breakfast" and then later its "late breakfast", then I'm in there again, and it's "early lunch"...who knew that even the hobbits knew about small frequent meals!

An old friend of mine would tell me the best way to get that good Thanksgiving dinner under your belt is on the night before stuff yourself so you can't move. That way you get the stomach good and stretched out so when Thanksgiving day arrives you are ready to rock and roll !!

Yikes !! Eek

My plan is to put so much turkey on my plate that I don't have room for a lot of anything else. Therefore taking small samplings of the naughty stuff.

I'll probably do my cardio in the morning then have eggs and grapefruit for breakfast but after that it is on! My stepdad already went to his sisters little bakery and picked me up TWO coconut caramel cream pies (good stuff)!

What I do is do EC stack, 1000 mgs l carnitine , 3 lean outs and 30-45 minutes of cardio and then have 3 scoops with some fiber then have just a dinner 2-3 hours later with about 600-800 mgs r ala. After dinner I will wait to eat 2 hours later deseert and slap another 600 r ala with a small turkey proprtion with good serving of desert (soy icecream with what ever pies and bread i want) may be later on that night I may hit another session of cardio light. and then back on band wagon

Great Topic,

I think unless you are within 12 weeks or so of a contest, one day will not make much difference.

Since I am not presently competing but may in spring next year (I have been maintaining since my last contest) my plan is as follows:

The last few days I've added some extra cardio
and will do some after thanksgiving as well.
about 1 1/2 hours total...

I'll make sure I eat my regular breakfast.

I'm going to take 4 lean out (as Roger suggested) before my thanksgiving meal & again before my "seconds" later in the day :-)

For the next few days after I will drink EXTRA water.

I won't eat any foods that "trigger" me to crave more junk... Mint chocolate chip ice cream is one of those foods.. once I start... look out :-)

I'll be right back on plan Friday and reduce my calories a bit for the next few days as I did a few days prior.

I'll train extra hard, making use of the extra carbs...

And most importantly I'm going to give a lot of thanks. Thankful for a wonderful wife & family, thankful that we are all healthy & that my wife & I both were lead to make a tranformation before it was too late, thankful we are healthy enough to train, thankful for the plentiful food we have in this country, thankful we have freedom & brave men & women who have sacrificed much to allow us that freedom, thankful for a roof over our head and warmth of a fire on cold Wisconsin winters...
..... the list is endless....

And thanks Roger & Sandy, and the folks at Beverly for creating this board, and to everyone here for sharing your experience, questions & answers, with others who share a common interest in Fitness, Bodybuilding, and Competition.

Happy Thanksgiving,
Tom

Ok, the mashed potatoes were good & all, but I can't wait to start a new day & be back on the strict track tomorrow Razz I thought I really missed just eating whatever without measuring etc, having dessert now & then if I felt like it or got coerced into it by others (ha) but I actually feel more comfortable with the routine on my 'diet' and weighing everything and being so in control of everything that goes into my mouth. That's a good thing I guess, but I think its an indication that I am somewhat of a control freak. Razz

Ate a bit of everything. Even had some bread :-0!

Mostly protein, ie Turkey.

Unless getting ready to compete I do not sweat the holiday food all that much. It is when I worry about not eating all the junk that I stress and eat more of it.

Hope eveyrone had a great Thanksgiving!

Ray,

I figured if I ate less food prior to the meal that my total consumption for the day would kind of equal out. My calories were a bit above normal, just because of the one piece of pie and the other goodies. My weight did not increase though. I took Lean out and Musclean faithfully, and I sincerely believe it works.
One dinner, one day, one thanksgiving table with your family and relatives, wow life goes by too fast. If you made the choice to eat a bit more than normal, just do what it takes after the fact to get back on track! Usually planning for such a meal is the best amo! I have stopped thinking of meals and cheat food as a reward. I look at it like it is a choice. I want to be rewarded in other ways for making a great lift in the gym or losing a few pounds.
I don't want to reward myself with cheat food. What do you think?

Sandy

Hi Sandy!

At what point does rewarding oneself for a week or month of eating "clean" with a cheat meal or day make sense?

Rather counterproductive and reinforces a lifestyle change many are struggling to make.

The real reward is when you no longer see food as a reward, instead the focus is as you wrote, more weight on the bar, less bodyfat, or whatever your goal may be.

So, it sounds like we need to re-program our brain to look for non food like rewards.

This is a huge indepth topic, Mental training. Why don't you start a new topic post on this and see what we can filter out?
