My calories are around 1885 every day (about 25 grams of carbs) except mon and thurs. I am doing the beverly carb up meal but it seems like an awful lot of calories(1000cal) for 1 meal. Did I mess up somewere or is this right?(Pre contest even?)

I'm not aware of your stats (weight, BF, LBM, BMR, height, activity levels, cardio, etc) but that does seem like alot. More than what I was eating when I used to do the 2x per week carb load.
Try this instead: 1 cup oatmeal 5oz sweet potato 4oz banana 1 cup green veg 1 tbls butter or 15 almonds (yummy when mixed in the oatmeal) Aram N. Hamparian NBI, USBF Pro Natural |

5'8" 189 lbs 10-12% bf.. Training hard lots of cardio..

Thanks for supplying me with your stats. If you are training hard and doing as much cardio as I think you are, then I would remain with what you were originally doing, and disregard what I suggested up top. At 25gr of carbs a day and all that cardio, you will need all those extra carbs during your carbup meals.
I'd also be extremely careful with the cardio, as it can be extremely catabolic to muscle tissue in times of severe stress and a hypocaloric diet. It's fairly well known that I don't advocate cardio for fat loss, so keep close scrutiny as to whether you are losing muscle, or not. Good luck! Aram N. Hamparian NBI, USBF Pro Natural |

I know what you're talking about. I remember my first contest. WAY TOO MUCH CARDIO. If you're losing strength, you're doing to much cardio. Do only enough to remain heart healthy. I know this one person that will do 1 hour before working out, workout, then one more hour. He looks horrible! The only thing is, if Godzilla is chasing us, Godzilla would tire out and have to fight with me. |
