I guess it depends on what phase of diet you are on? Honey at its most basic form is simply sugar. Sugar pretty much has NO place on the typical bodybuilder/fitness competitor's menu.

That being said, I don't know to much about why Honey would ever be effective. It is pure Glucose, so I suppose post-workout on a mass gaining plan it would be ok to take? ... my main quam with that is that there are BETTER OPTIONS than to have to make room for Honey

Ever seen that movie "Honey" w/ Jessica Alba??? RRRRRRRRRRRRRROW!!... but that is besides the point, Glucose=Sugar=NO GOOD (except on cheat meals)

Just my opinion!

Honey is more than just sugar. The medicinal & overall health benefits of honey are truly amazing. You should google the healing properties of honey.

2 years ago I started using about a tbsp. of honey (raw unpastuerized from a local supplier) daily. I no longer have to take medicine for my allergies, except maybe 2-3 times a year when the pollen gets really bad.

I've also used it to treat sinus infections, sore throat and burns. I think the positives of honey far out weigh a little extra glucose in your diet.

Ohh, no, no. This is GOOD and TASTY! LOL

ChunkyButt has it to a point, depending where you are on diet.

Timing is everything. Honey may not be good in the middle of your contest diet but how much are we talking about? 1/2 tsp with your meal wouldn't wreck your diet. A TBS before bed on an empty stomach could have a whole different effect. You can also use it prior to your workout.

It does have such great properties. If possible, use raw, unprocessed honey.

I've used it all Spring and it really helped me avoid allergy problems, which I didn't have them this year. As dfv said, use it from the local blends.

what i use is less than 1/2 tsp in my oatmeal for breakfast and it really does seem to help with allergies if you use a local supply that is raw and natural. and if you put a little ground cinnamon in that oatmeal, TASTY!!
