Hey All,

I've been lurking here since January when I discovered Beverly supplements. Thanks for all the great info you've provided here. I am 6'3" 217 pounds currently, and around 9% BF. I read the article on diet and am currently taking in about 3400 calories a day. I shoot for 50% P, 25% C, 25% F (I play competitive softball so found I need a few extra carbs). I have a protein question: I am shooting for 70g of protein in my six meals a day, sometimes I can't get to 70g if I'm at a business lunch, etc. I want to know how many grams I can utilize or process at one time? Am I okay taking in 80 or 85g in the next meal after I only get 50 or 55g, or is that too much protein at once?

Thanks again for your help. I look and feel great.

cheers. nicholas

Are you taking any Mass Aminos and/or Ultra 40 along with your meals? Regardless, my opinion is that you are consuming way too much protein. And I love my protein! Wink My humble suggestion would be to get closer to the following macro's:

PRO - 250 gr
CHO - 375 gr
FAT - 60 gr

Divide your protein equally within your six meals. For carbs, take 25% of your daily totals pre and post workout. On non-workout days, divide the carbs as you see fit.

Good luck. Smile

Aram,

Thanks for your help. I have been taking 4 MA/U40 with each meal (and have been adding those 12g Pro into my count). Wow that's a big difference (and will be much easier to achieve, as well). The article gave me a multiple of 15 (high end of fat burning/low end of muscle building) and said to shoot for 50% of those calories from protein. Would you explain the difference to me? I'll start shooting for 30ish grams of protein a meal and 4 MA/U40's for a total of 42g. I really appreciate your help. cheers, nicholas

9% body fat is VERY VERY VERY LEAN. You do NOT need to be on a diet of 50/25/25 at this weight and bf percentage. Are you doing 3-4 cheat meals a week also?? Tell me you don't constantly stay on this diet all the time? Do you have any "carb-up" meals that you cycle in?? I really think this is all wrong for you.

You can't be a carb-o-phobe. That is a major mistake... not to mention you are taking in way to much protein. Not that it will hurt you, but excess is just converted into glycogen anyways or excreted as waste. Basically, you body is bordering a catabolic state. That diet is a great diet to be on if you are trying to lose body fat and start with a bf level above 15%... clearly this is not you!

Aram has given you a good macro breakdown that you would really benefit from doing. Now, understand that you need to use CLEAN carbs not "bread and Pasta"... those are **** and better off to be eaten on your cheat meals. Stick to Oatmeal, Sweet Potato, Red/White potato, Brown Rice, Grapefruit, Berries... That is a good list to choose from, but do not substitute your carbs with breads of anysort. Think of it like this, would you prefer getting your protein from a soybean, or, an Eye Round Steak? You should have the same attitude towards your carb selection.

Anyways, it may be a good idea to dump your current diet and try something a little more suiting to your current body-fat level.

Guys,

Thanks for the sound advice. Thanks for the explanation Chunky, that makes perfect sense. I've been a touch tired lately, the extra carbs will probably do wonders for my energy level. Alright, I've s******* the old plan in favor of Aram's suggestion. I'll report back in a few weeks to let you know how it's going.

Again, thanks. nicholas

Throw some sea salt on your meals, not only is it tasty, but it provides 26 minerals, keeps the cell wet (ie anabolic) and will make you look tighter and fuller.....

Keep us posted.....

better yet once you re-do the diet post it here....so we can see how you went about it. fitday.com and calorieking.com both have diet sections that allow you to create a diet and it spits out the macro breakdown so you can get close to exact.....gotta count the protein in the carbs, and that gets tough on your own....

Good Luck my man!
