for that last 2 months i have followed a mostly low to no carb diet with a desire for max fat loss... now im ready preserve muscle mass and burn the small remaining fat at a moderate pace... i have added to high carbs days monday, and thursday .. my two heavy lift days... on my high carb days 4 out of 6 of my meals all contain either an apple, grapefruit, or strawberries ( for glycogen) and also about 20 grams of complex carbs... i normally lift first thing in the morning with only some whey and amino acids in my stomach ( and drink bev glutamone while lifting... following the workout with creatine and more protein about 20 mins after the creatine... on my high carb days should i take in carbs with my first meal before lifint or continue my ways and consume carbs through out the rest of the day... thanks for your help
Your high carb days sound like low carb days to me?? What is your bodyweight and bodyfat percentage? Male? Female?
Anyways, you are getting your "carbs" from fruit sources. Not a good idea for re-feed or glycogen replenishment. You NEED something of an insulin response to get glycogen shuttled into your muscular reserves. Fruit will NOT excite that response! Fruit (fructose) works in a completely different process....
You need to ditch the fruit for your high carb days and incorporate Sweet Potato, Red/White Potato, Brown Rice, Quinoa, and Oatmeal. Those are your choices. They will produce an insulin response enough to turnover glycogen in muscle cells, but not to the extent to STOP the fat burning process.
What does the rest of your diet look like??? You can't go LOW LOW carb like that for to long before you actually start storing fats instead of burning them. Tell me that you are having a few cheat meals here and there and not just your idea of "high-carb" days??
