Hey guys,

I'm on a routine where I'm eating 5-6x's a day and I was wondering about some do's and dont's.

I know that one shouldnt go longer than 4 hours between meals. My first question is, when dose the clock start for the next meal? When you finish a meal, or, when you've started one?

Is it pretty well accepted that the first meal should be within an hour of waking up?

What happens if by chance one goes longer than 4 hours? I dont ever plan on letting that happen but we all know life sometimes DOES happen so I just want to know the worst case I guess.

Last one for now... how long do I have to consume a meal? Ive been limiting myself to an hour. In other words, if I cant get my first meal down in an hour its time to give it up right? This usually only applies to my first meal.

Im looking forward to hearing your responses as Ive been meaning to ask these questions for ages.

Thanks!

These are some good questions that are rarely asked. To answer your first question the "clock" shoud start after you finish the meal not when you start it, however if its a matter of 10-15 minutes the diffrence will not be that great. Generally you want to eat your first meal within an hour or so of waking up. The reason for this has to do with your body being in a catabolic (muscle breaking down) state after going the whole night without eating. If your goal is fat loss some people like to do low intensity cardio on an empty stomach therefore the first meal would come when the cardio is finished. Its alright if occasionaly you have meals over four hours apart but it should not be a regular habit. Eating every 2-4 hours keeps your metabolism reved up and allows you to get in those 5-6 meals evenly spaced out. I think if a meal is taking you over an hour to eat thats too long. Eating slow has its benefits but an hour is a long time to be eating a meal.I am curious to see what the meal is that takes you that long to eat. Hope this helps.

Thanks!

Believe it or not its a MP vanilla shake with frozen strawberries. Its not anything to do with the shake its more about me not being hungry to eat breakfast. I just dont like mornings and never have eaten breakfast until I stared on a meal plan.

Its about as basic as you can get for food, water, ice, 2 TBS HWCream, 1.5 scoops of Vanilla MP in a blender.

Just takes awhile to choke it all down. Ive been trying to only give myself a half hour and lately Ive been doing ok. Sometimes though Im just plain and simple not hungry in the mornings.

Well its good that you started to have breakfast because as wee all know its very important. A Muscle Provider shake is perfect to have as a first meal. I was actually going to suggest having a shake if your first meal was a whole food meal and you were having trouble eating it. The first meal should get easier to get down once your body gets used to consuming food early in the morning. Keep up the good work.
