Hey guys, my diet right now consist of eating 6oz of chicken. Well i prepare my chicken for the entire week and i cook it in a crock pot. I normally weigh out 5oz after cooking each time i prepare my meal for that day. If my diet calls for 6oz of chicken (before cooked) what should i weight out after cooked, i have been weightout 5oz cooked chicken?

It is going to be a matter of prep. Crockpot, I would keep it at 6 oz. The chicken really hasn't lost fluid weight from cooking. 4.5 to 5 sounds good, depending on how much you cook it down.

Some say to multiply by .75 to get the amount you need after cooking. I just weigh before.

I think that Rachel told me to subtract 1 ounce after it is cooked. That is what I have been doing, anyway!

Does the multiply by .75 or subtract 1oz also apply to turkey breast. ? I can't measure it before I cook it because I usually buy an entire turkey.

It really depends on how you cook it. If you cut strips off before cooking, you can have an accurate measure. I used to grid the chicken (after slaughter and not with skin, beak and feathers Big Grin ) and to say, "specific"...I used grams. I imagine I could have set the scale to hundredths of an ounce.

I will also assume you're not deep frying the turkey? Wink

What you might do is sliver off some, weight it, place it on the inside of the turkey, then weight it after it is cooked. That may help you estimate how much you need to "shave off" after cooking.
