If you are going to eat black beans, eat with rice and you'll get a compete amino profile. High carbs, though, even by themselves.

If you contest dieting, probably not the best. In general, go for it.

Okay, I'm curious. Instead of oatmeal with my morning egg scramble, why could I not use say 1/2c. of black beans/kidney beans?

The organic black beans I have would give me:

120 Calories / 0 g Fat / 22g carbs w/ 6g fiber/ 8 g protein.

Oatmeal would be:

115 Calories / 2.55 g Fat / 27 carbs w/ 4.29g fiber/ 6.5 g protein.

To me, the bean look like almost a better choice? What am I missing? Especially if I hit my 50/30/20 numbers, am I messing up my precontest (the Northern) diet?

Thanks guys!

Not sure I would want to start my morning off with beans but they would work in your situation. If you will look one post down you will notice that Booker T (aka steven at beverly, I think) lists a list of permissble "bodybuilding" foods and all black and red beans make that list so I fairly sure it will be fine.
