Lean Gaining

Okay, just going to make sure i have the basics right and a couple questions to boot.

50% Protein/ 20% Carbs/ 30% Fats

That's the macronutrient ratio suggested for lean gaining, right?

Now for my questions.

How many calories?

Is Lean Gaining as effective as bulking up for putting on muscle the fastest?

Thanks alot in advance,
Lance

Hi Lance,

Have you tried emailing Beverly International for a personalized diet?

Complete the client profile below and they will give you a meal plan for your specific goals. Also send them your pictures. They are quick too - usually under a week if that.

I'm trying not to bother with that b/c i can't afford their supplements, especially at the amount they suggest in their diet plans. I was just figuring the 50/20/30 was enough b/c they said it was optimal for most people to gain muscle/lose fat.

Here i'll just post my diet that i put together myself, tell me what you think please. It comes out to 50/20/30 give or take about 1%, lol. Close enough for me. Used Fitday to do it. Also it's for 2500 calories, which i had planned to slowly bump up or down depending on results.

Meal 1: 6 eggs, 1/2cup oatmeal b4 cooking
Meal 2: 8oz chicken, potato
Meal 3: 3 scoops protein powder, 1 fruit
Meal 4: 7.5oz tuna, 1/4cup walnuts
Meal 5: 3 cups cottage cheese, 1/4cup walnuts

There it is.

Lance,
Your best bet is to fill out that client profile as suggested. The diet they send will have supplement recommendations, but the diets are still highly effective without supplementation. Are you currently suppplementing? If so, you're best bet might be to drop some of those and go with a very basic, and cost friendly, supplement regimen.

Lance,

I agree with Ryan. Even if you don't buy all the supplements, the meal plan and portion sizes will be right on. (I only use Ultra Size due to cost and convenience as well).

If you still don't want to go that route then I would suggest looking at some of the articles on the site and see what guys with a similar physique have followed. I think the diet you posted looks good but I have two suggestions: one is to switch meal one to be only 1 yolk and 6-8 egg whites (you don't want 6 yolks..too much fat!). The other suggestion is to have a shake postworkout on training days. You could add it in as an extra meal so that on training days your calories are slightly higher (maybe 2800). I don't know how big you are so it is hard for me to say but if you weigh and measure yourself first thing in the morning once a week you should notice a trend. Are you looking to maintain your current bodyweight but just replace fat with muscle? What does your training schedule look like?

I filled out a client profile last night, but did forget to mention my budget and such. I figure i'll work with Ultra Size, Ultra 40 and Mass Aminos. Seems to be a basic plan that everyone seems to suggest.

For right now, Jill, i'm trying to stay cut or get even more cut. But pretty soon starts bulking, and i'd love to lean-bulk as Beverly says you can do. So i'm assuming by having them set up a gain muscle/lose fat diet i can do both right now and just keep doing it.

Training wise i'm doing HST. I really like HST, i've had my best results from it as well. I used to do the 3xper week full body HST, now i'm trying to do it 6x a week for better protein absorbtion and such. If you don't know anything about HST, than you probably think i'm completely wacko right now. But 6xweek full body is not a big deal in HST as long as you do it right. =)

Hi Lance,

I am sure BI will hook you up with a nutrition plan to produce the results you are looking for. They can help you figure out which supplements would be most valuable to you right now if you can't afford everything they suggest. Good Luck, I am sure you will do great!!!
