During contest dieting (4 months) I eat 7 meals and have at least 3 sticks of gum in-between each meal so that comes out to 18 pieces of gum a day...Of course the gum is sugar free...I just wanted to know what you guys think about excessive sugar free gum chewing are there any negative side effects???

If anything, I would say Trident to be the gum of choice. It would be a safer route.

Sugar Free gum contains 1-2 grams of carbs per stick. Not much, but 18 pieces is an extra 18-36 grams per day. Those extra carbs may be better used in another form.

its better than binging, but I gotta agree with markD. Id limit to 5 sticks or so, get Stride those last forever, I eat a meal and keep the same piece and put it back in.
