I was reading a thread on this board. I don't remember which one but someone was eating Kashi and the guru replied saying, "Kashi??", very disapprovingly.
What's so bad about Kashi? I'm not defending it but I'm curious as I have been eating Kashi for almost a year now and have not seen any ill results. I actually ate Kashi 7 Whole Grain nuggets on my prep last year and ending up winning both the novice overall and the open overall...was dry, cut, and vascular. I was just curious if there was a health reason for not eating Kashi or something I am missing. |

I think Kashi is very nutritional and Id eat it all year long. I however, wouldnt eat it on a cut. Thats me personally. Ive found that oats, brown rice, sweet potatoes and white potatoes to work the best for me and my clients.
You may be naturally very lean and can get away it. But, in the end, you know as well as I do, its calories in versus calories out. Go with it if it works well for you. |

I agree with J. Kashi is probably a better option than bread. But there are STILL better choices.
I have friends and have known other competitors that have white breads, other breads, bananas, and french fries on their "Competition" diets, but that doesn't mean that every one can do that??? Obviously, Kashi is not the same as french fries, I'm just saying that if there are better choices? Why not utilize them? But you may be one of those that can get away with a little more than the average bb'r! Vijay Rock Puri, D.C. |

Yes, I am mostly ectomorphic..with some mesomorphic shoulder width.
I love my Kashi 7 Whole Grain nuggets with raisins and vanilla whey protein snack and I wouldn't want to change it for the world. My pre- post- w/o carbs come from white rice but I've been reading your posts about high potassium carbs. I was wondering about switching to the white potatoes. How do you prepare them?..do you eat them dry after baking? Thanks.

Up until Feb 07, I was a carbophobe.
Then, I moved and ended up with a new trainer and basically found out throughout the entire year last year that, I was really missing out on the benefits of carbs....not only that but I can get away with a lot of carbs and benefit from a lot of carbs and carb sources. So, I guess I'm lucky with that but like J, I have basically cheat my way up on the scale. Meaning, I have to eat my plan, and then make sure that I'm eating a bunch of treats throughout the week so that I turn my hard training into more size. Nevertheless, I'm still fully abbed, and separated hammies, even though my cheeks are more filled out. I'm only 15 lbs more than contest weight but 90% of it is more muscle (judging from pictures I've taken). Goal is to be 25 lbs more than contest weight and LEAN before considering another contest.

Winflex, sounds good and like a solid plan, in the offseason thats how I work it too, solid base plan with at least 300 carbs, usually closer to 400 and then take my daily cheats, need this just to gain.
As for your question, give the white potato a try TONS of potassium, try to add some sea salt with it and fuel that potassium/sodium pump, you should notice a fuller physique within days. I prepare them actually by using a Ziploc steamer bag, 6 mins in the microwaver, and perfect. You could bake them but that takes a long time. |

I'm currently following a diet that CB put together for me. He included either a sweet potato or white potato with one of my meals. Is one more beneficial than the other?
