Hello everyone, was wondering if anyone had some ideas on oatmeal alternatives? I have such a hard time eating it no matter how it's made. Any suggestions?

I realize you're looking for alternatives but I suggest you try to "add" something that improves the flavor:
Sugar-free syrup
Frozen fruit (strawberries,blueberries,etc.)
protein powder (mix powder w/water then add)
splenda (they now have brown sugar!)
spray butter
I'm sure others will add to this list.

You can try cream of wheat or cream of rye for more of a variety. With the oatmeal before you cook it add some cinnamon that will help the taste as well.

Cream of rice...you could eat just plain brown rice...or how about buckwheat cereal? I love that.

Carlos I used to eat oatmeal on a regular basis but it cause me stomach problems and I decided on Creme of Rice,no problems at all.--- My strength went thru the roof on oatmeal but I had to give it up because it was killing me. --- I am sure that with Creme of Rice you will be O.K.

Something else to try is cream of rye. it's ok, but i personally love oatmeal and feel that it pales in comparison to thick organic oats

OK...dumb question from the traveling ****: Our homeboys at Quaker have trotted out a new oat product called "Weight Control" oatmeal. They are flavored (thank heaven) and only have 1g of sugar per packet. Can this be used in place of the "old school" rolled oats? Flavor is good, man. And anything that makes this diet more tolerable is a good thing, right? I'm still in a euphoric state when I have sugar free jello, for crying out loud!

As of late I have substituted my 1 cup oatmeal with 1 low carb. whole grain fajita wrap+1/2 grapefruit. I have been cooking my eggs and meat with tobasco+cayenne+chile powder and then wrapping it up in the wrap, and then eating the grapefruit seperately.

Sunshine - A better substitute would be another carb that was more similar to oatmeal such as those suggested above. An apple is a different tpe of carbohydrate than something like oatmeal or brown rice or a whole wheat soft taco shell. An occasional substitution would not be a big deal, but on a regular basis it would be better to find something more similar to oatmeal.

I have been mixing a scoop of MP in my oatmeal for a year now, I hate plain oatmeal but with the MP it is pretty good. It just takes some patience to stir it slowly.

I found that using UMP really thickens up the oatmeal. I like to use vanilla, then mix in a little bit of crystal light. It tastes awsome like stawberries and cream or tropical flavors. I also just mix UMP in with my oatmeal along with cinnamon and some splenda, chocolate cinnamon is more like a desert than a meal.
