Nut butters in the diet...Go ![]() | New ![]() | Find ![]() | Tools ![]() | Reply ![]()

I half think people might suspect my post is a joke (I promise it isn't) but then I can also imagine people here nodding in agreement that they can relate... I'm looking for a way to get as much almond butter (and sometimes peanut butter) into my diet as possible I'm not precontest and just getting back into things after a lot of time off getting fat (true story). I've lost 36 pounds and probably have around 15 more to go. I've been back in the gym for a few months now and doing well. (also looking to regain some lost muscle) I have found that being able to have my almond butter and sometimes peanut butter makes me satisfied and content and perfectly happy to continue with an eating plan. I only use the natural ones with only almonds (or peanuts) as the ingredients. I do know the calories can add up fast though so I force myself to weigh out the serving (or else I'll eat half the jar in one day) I'm looking at the different women's diet options in my precontest manual and in No Nonsense articles and the FAQs and in all seriousness and trying to find one I can start with that will allow me to have the most nut butter possible because that's the one I'll stick with! (plus I don't think I should try the strictest option at this point since I'm trying to lose fat and regain some muscle and I'm not precontest) Are there tweaks I can make to any that will allow me a bit more nut butter? I'll include Beverly EFAs in my supplement plan too. If I were willing to go with those Wishbone spray dressings that have very few calories or even skip dressing, can I up the nut butter? I'm 5'8" and currently 154 lbs 28% bodyfat (I know that's high but I'm working hard and it's coming down!) Thanks in advance for any hints or tweaks as to which diet to begin with and if I can manage to tweak just a bit to get more almond butter in there....

Hi there. You're right, the calories from nut butters can add up really fast, and they can be hard to eat in moderation, so be very careful. We recommend almond or cashew butter, as peanuts aren’t acutally nuts, but legumes. Always measure your almond or cashew butter exactly. It’s easy to overeat on these yummy treats. I recommend the Female Achieving and Fat to Muscle Transition nutrition plan for you. www.beverlyinternational.com/F...ampleplanfemale.html. For breakfast, you could have 4 egg whites and instead of eating a yolk, you could do about 2 tsp of almond or cashew butter. For meals #2 & #4, you are able to have 1-2 tbsp of almond or cashew butter – 1 tbsp per scoop of protein powder. For dinner, instead of the oil and vinegar dressing you could do about 1 ½ tbsp almond or cashew butter. This would give you the option of having almost 6 tbsp a day, which is quite a bit. Try to vary this from day to day though so you’re getting some other healthy fats into your plan too. Hope this helps. Rachel Beverly

Thank you so much! That's PLENTY What diet would be my next step after this one? I have the precontest manual so if there isn't a link you can give me I can find it there by title (I love having a plan mapped out) I realize as my fat loss progresses I won't be able to keep that much nut butter in but could I tweak my next plan too in the same way to maximize the amount? I prefer almond butter over peanut anyway so I'll definitely go that route.

I would follow this plan for 4-6 weeks and closely monitor your results. Once you get to a point where fat loss slows down or stalls, I would cut some of your nut butter and follow the diet exactly as written until your fat loss stops again. Another thing you might want to do at that point is do one scoop protein for meals #2 and #4, rather than two. Then, I would follow a fat loss plan like the one here - http://www.beverlyinternationa...recontestfemale.html. It will help you continue to drop fat, but retain muscle. Good luck!
