As far as potatoes go....is there really a difference between russet, new red, yukon gold, or baby red/yukon?

I prefer russet (I call them white, but I guess they are brown, the inside is white) on all my diets whether pre or offseason. Twice daily and one is my post workout carb. I will also use sweet potatoes for a low gi carb source.
Russets contain a LARGE amount of potassium add some sea salt and you have fed the potassium pump, much fuller look the muscle. I use gdas to control the insulin spike, though eating the russet with protein the GI is much lower anyways. Reds are lower glycemic but I dont think they contain quite as much potassium the russet is loaded with vitamins mineral and potassium. Most will say NEVER eat it pre contest, well all my clients do and they love it for the reasons Ive mentioned above. You could look them up and compare them. |
